March 9, 2015
Classic Pistachio Watergate Salad {aka: green fluff} is creamy comfort food at its best.  Whip up a batch to add a delicious touch of green to your St. Patrick's Day table.  But then, it's perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or every day, too!

We're big fans of "fluff" salads in our house.

You know the stuff ~ those creamy creations that are typically some concoction of fruit, whipped cream, and marshmallows ... with whatever various other ingredients thrown in.  They're comfort food at its best!

But in our house, these fluffs never  go by their real names.  Nope,  in our house they go simply by their color.

Whip up a batch to add a delicious touch of green to your St. Patrick's Day table.  But then, it's perfect for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or every day, too!

Cherry Fluff Salad to us? ... pink fluff.  And classic Orange Pineapple Salad? ... yep, to us it's just orange fluff.

And what about this Pistachio Watergate Salad?  Well, of course! ~ To us it's just  green  fluff.

If I was to say to my husband, "Would you like me to make Pistachio Watergate Salad tonight?"  He would look at me like I had three heads and have no idea what I was talking about.  He'd probably say , "Water what??"

But green fluff? ... that  he knows.

Pistachio Watergate Salad {Green Fluff}

With St. Patrick's day coming up next week, I just couldn't help but think green Pistachio Watergate Salad would be perfect  to make.

Which then also got me thinking about some of my other favorite green foods here on The Kitchen is My Playground.

So I went back through the archives and pulled out 8 of my green favorites to share with you.

  8. We have been eating Watergate salad at our family holiday get togethers since I was a kid. The only thing different is that ours has cottage cheese in it...drain the liquid out and mix it in...it is really good. I giggled when you said y'all call it green fluff....I have a niece who calls it green crap so we laugh every time it is on the table lol.

  9. I made this one year for my fiance's family at our Easter dinner. They'd never heard of Watergate Salad, but they loved it! The only difference between what we had when I was a kid and yours is mama put sliced cherries in hers. I'd not heard it called "Green Fluff" before though.
