Maple Baked Peaches Ingredients:

It takes just 3 ingredients to make these tasty Maple Baked Peaches. To whip up a batch, you'll need:

  • Fresh peaches - The star of the dish! Use freestone peaches, those for which the pit will easily separate from the fruit when cut in half, for this recipe. Freestone peaches create a nice hollow in the center when halved, working perfectly to hold the maple syrup and brown sugar for baking. (Cling peaches, on the other hand, have fruit that does not fall away from the pit, making it difficult to cut them into nice halves to bake as described in this recipe.) Look for freestone peaches that are on the firmer side, rather than super soft, for the best and easiest result. Freestone peaches are available later in the peach season, typically mid-June to mid-August.

  • Pure maple syrup - The other star of the dish! Use 100% pure maple syrup in this recipe. -- There truly is just no substitute for the real stuff.

  • Brown sugar - Mixes with the maple syrup to bring nice sweetness to the finished peaches.

How to Make Maple Baked Peaches:

Maple Baked Peaches are really super easy to make. In a nutshell, you simply split fresh peaches in half, add a bit of brown sugar and maple syrup, and bake. Whipping up a tasty batch is indeed that easy.

To get a pan of Maple Baked Peaches going, start by halving a couple of peaches and removing their pits. With slightly firm freestone peaches, this is really easy to do. -- Just cut all the way around the middle of the peach, give it a gentle twist with your hands, and the peach halves should come away from the pit pretty easily.

Place the peach halves in a baking dish with the cut sides down. Drizzle the skin sides with a little bit of maple syrup, rubbing it on the peaches to coat the skin.

Then turn the peaches over in the baking dish so the cut sides are up.

Sprinkle each peach half with a small bit of brown sugar. Then pour the remaining maple syrup over the peaches, being sure that the cavity of each peach gets filled.

Pop the pan in the oven and bake until the peaches are nice and tender, which takes around 30 minutes.
