Love year-end "best of" lists? -- Then check out the The Kitchen is My Playground's top 10 best recipes of 2021, as voted by readers' views. These 10 dishes are the reader favorites
from our new content posts of the year -- and oh my, it's been a tasty
year around here, for sure!
I don't know about you, but I just adore seeing all the "top 10" or "top
whatever number" lists at the end of the year. Whether it's the year's top
songs, top movies, or even the most popular baby names of the year, I'm here
for it.
And if it's a list of the year's top recipes or most-loved dishes? -- Then I'm
most definitely all about it.
So in that same vein, it's always fun to take a look back at the top
recipes of the year here at The Kitchen is My Playground. --
Which is exactly what we're doing in this post.
From our family to yours, Happy New Year! We wish you a 2022 filled with happiness (and great food!).
But before we get into our top recipes list, we want to say thank you
so much for being a reader of The Kitchen is My Playground. We are humbled and blessed to have you all here, and look
forward to keeping the tried-and-true family-tested recipes coming in
the new year.
From our family to yours, Happy New Year! We wish you a 2022 filled
with happiness (and great food!).
And now, here are your top 10 favorites from this past
year:
This Buttermilk Blueberry Bread recipe was actually a happy accident. --
A happy accident that both our family and readers loved! Coming in at
the #10 spot of the year, this tasty bread just goes to show that not
all mistakes are a bad thing.
Nanna's Baked Spaghetti is truly a family favorite at our house, and it
appears many of you love it, too. Nanna's cheesy version of baked
spaghetti slid in as the 9th favorite recipe of the year.
These pillowy-soft Amish sugar cookies just about melt in your mouth.
Loaded with fabulous vanilla flavor, they're our new favorite sugar
cookies. And judging by the fact they made it into the top
The Kitchen is My Playground recipes of the year, you all like
them too!
In this version of yum yum dessert, two thick creamy layers
sandwich cherry pie filling and chocolate fudge pudding, and all sit
atop a no-bake Oreo crumb crust. Seriously, with this creamy no-bake
cherry chocolate combination, what's not to love? We certainly don't
blame you for "voting" this one into the top 10 of the year.
With its smooth and creamy chocolate custard filling and fluffy
meringue topping, it's easy to see why this Old-Fashioned Chocolate Pie from scratch is an all-time family favorite dessert. It's a
beloved family recipe, passed down from my husband's Nanny. -- And
we're so glad to see that you all enjoyed it, too!
Hummingbird Banana Bread combines the classic pineapple, banana, and pecan combination
of
Hummingbird Cake
to create one fabulously flavorful variation of everyone's beloved
quick bread. And bringing together these two fabulous favorites
turned out to be a winner with readers, for sure.
Apparently we all love a little nostalgia! Bringing back the retro days of Kentucky Fried Chicken with
this copycat KFC Macaroni Salad proved to be pretty popular with
The Kitchen is My Playground readers. Coming in at #4 for the year, looks like we all love to enjoy
this long-discontinued KFC side at home.
We all love quick and easy recipes. -- And further proof of that are
these super tasty quick and easy roll-ups coming in at the #3 spot for
the year. Looks like readers like the fact you can
whip up a platter of these little bites with just 3 simple ingredients and all of about 10 minutes of
prep!
We all adore macaroni salad. And with it coming in as the 2nd most
popular recipe of the year, it looks like we especially adore this
Hawaiian Macaroni Salad. Just about the simplest, most basic macaroni salad around, Hawaiian Macaroni
Salad delivers up the fabulous flavor we love.
And the winning top recipe of 2021 is -- The BEST Peanut Butter
Blossoms!
We truly had a lot of fun creating this post, and we're so glad our
readers loved it so much. Because we all know and love the iconic Peanut Butter Blossom cookie, right? -But what we learned (and shared) in creating this post is
not all Peanut Butter Blossom recipes are created equal. We had fun
in the kitchen testing out five of the most common blossom cookie
recipes (including the original) to see which was the best, and
looks like you all had fun reading about the results!
Thank you so much for reading The Kitchen is My Playground in 2021. We look forward to having you back throughout
2022, too!
All fabulous recipes Tracey.
