Love to enjoy year-end "best of" lists? -- Check out the The Kitchen is My Playground's top 10 best recipes of 2020, as voted by readers' views! These
10 dishes are the reader favorites from our new content posts of the year --
and my oh my, what a tasty year it's been.
The year 2020 definitely didn't unfold the way any of us expected. It
was filled with many many things we never expected to experience in our
lifetimes -- from school shut-downs, to social-distancing, mask wearing, and
so many other pandemic protocols that have become necessities of the
times. It's a year I hope we all never have to repeat -- and one I
hope leads us into a much healthier and more stable 2021.
But alas as we get ready to ring in the new year, it's still fun to have
a little look back at the deliciousness delivered up during the previous
one. So let's take a peek back at the top 10 newly-shared recipes of
2020 from The Kitchen is My Playground.
From our family to yours, Happy New Year! We wish you a 2021 filled with good health and happiness.
For me, it's always fun to look back through the year's posts and see
which ones have taken the top spots as your favorites ... and especially
which recipe takes top-billing as the #1 most-viewed of all.
Thank you so much for being a reader of The Kitchen is My Playground. We are humbled and blessed to have you all here, and look forward
to keeping the tried-and-true family-tested recipes coming in the new
year.

And now, here are your top 10 favorites from this past year:
As you'll see throughout this top 10 countdown, 2020 was the year of the
Yum Yum here at The Kitchen is My Playground. Sliding in at
the number 10 spot is this banana pudding version of this classic creamy
dessert. With its banana pudding-inspired filling sandwiched between Yum Yum's
two creamy ultra-fluffy layers of deliciousness, straight-up banana
pudding's got some serious competition!
We love the sweet mildness of Vidalia onions, and it appears you do
too. Sweet Vidalia onions are the star of this tasty Southern casserole
that came in in the 9th spot for the year. It bakes up creamy, cheesy, and loaded with delicious onion flavor.
Taking advantage of boxed cake mix as their base, these chocolate
crinkle cookies are super easy to make. Hardly any measuring,
just a few basic ingredients, and amazingly quick to mix up -- and looks
like you all love these easy kind of recipes just as much as we
do!
This recipe being in the top 10 for the year is extra special, because
it's the first baked item our 10-year-old has made for the blog all by
herself. She's so proud it made the top 10!
Coming in at #7 is this super tasty macaroni salad. It's made with just a few basic ingredients, is easy to pull together, and
loaded with flavor. We sure love it, and are glad you do,
too!
This is one our go-to easy weeknight meals here at our house. It's a tasty family-friendly and budget-friendly dish that seems to be
loved by all. -- Landing this weeknight dinner staple in the #6 spot for
the year.
Looks like you all love Olive Garden Salad as much as we do! This copycat
version came in at the #5 top spot for the year. It's the perfect
salad to go with just about any meal, don't you think?
Honestly, the popularity of this Buttermilk Banana Bread recipe
(pleasantly) surprised me. But then, who doesn't love a tender and moist
banana bread that's loaded with rich banana flavor? It's our
family's go-to banana bread recipe, and we're so glad so many of you
have enjoyed it, too!
Coming in at the #3 spot is another creamy and delicious Yum Yum!
This fresh strawberry version of the Southern classic dessert sandwiches
fresh spring strawberries between Yum Yum's signature creamy layers.
And it makes for one very tasty dessert, indeed.
And at #2? -- Another Yum Yum! We created this mixed berry red,
white and blue version for the 4th of July and were blown away by how well
it was received. Its tasty combination of strawberry and blueberry
and beautiful red, white, and blue layers earned it the almost-top spot of
the year.
And the winning top recipe of 2020 is -- No-Bake Strawberry Yum Yum!
Remember when I said earlier in the post that 2020 was the year of the Yum
Yum here at The Kitchen is My Playground? -- I wasn't
kidding! With 4 varieties of Yum Yum in the top 10, and Strawberry
Yum Yum taking the #1 spot, it's safe to say you all love the Yum.
With it's dreamy creamy deliciousness, what's not to love?? And this
