Around our house, we sure love our Yum Yum desserts. With their fruit or flavored filling sandwiched between two deliciously creamy fluffy layers, what's not to love?
From classic blueberry yum yum and cherry yum yum, to fall-favorite pumpkin yum yum, to non-traditional peach yum yum and banana pudding yum yum -- we love them all. But while we love them all, there's definitely not full agreement in our home about which one is best.
Not only do we love Strawberry Yum Yum's great flavor and comfort-food creaminess, we also love how easy it is to make.
If you ask Little Miss H. and me? We say our favorite is the most classic of all the Yum Yum desserts -- good-old classic No-Bake Cherry Yum Yum.
But if you ask my husband Mark? He'll say his favorite -- without a doubt -- is this No-Bake Strawberry Yum Yum.
There's just something about the flavor combination of strawberry pie filling and the rich, cream-filled layers he adores. It's kind of like eating a fluffy layered version of strawberries and cream! And trust me, Little Miss H. and I certainly won't ever turn down a slice of its deliciousness.
Not only do we love Strawberry Yum Yum's great flavor and comfort-food creaminess, we also love how easy it is to make.
To whip up a pan, start by making a simple no-bake graham cracker crust.
Simply mix together graham cracker crumbs with melted butter, and press the mixture into the bottom of a baking dish.
Then mix up a big bowl of Yum Yum's quintessential fluffy sweetened cream cheese and whipped cream mixture.
This is what's used to create its fluffy, creamy layers that sandwich the strawberry filling.
Next, create the Strawberry Yum Yum layers.
Spread a layer of the whipped cream mixture on top of the prepared graham cracker crust. Then top that with strawberry pie filling, and spread on another layer of the fluffy cream cheese mixture. (But if you prefer your Yum Yum made with fresh strawberries, we've got you covered with that, too.)
Cover and refrigerate the pan of Yum Yum for at least several hours or overnight before serving. Once the Strawberry Yum Yum has chilled for a while, you're ready to dig into its deliciousness.
Chilling the Yum Yum allows the dessert to set up and gives the flavors some time to meld together -- don't skip this step.
While it will be ready and delicious to enjoy after a few hours of chilling time, this is one dessert that just gets better and better as it sits.
This is one dessert that just gets better and better as it sits. We swear, it's even better the second day.
We let ours chill at least over night before digging in. And we swear, it's even better the second day. Which means No-Bake Strawberry Yum Yum is a great dessert to make when you need to prepare for a dinner or event in advance.
But no matter when you enjoy it -- after a few hours, or after a couple days of chilling, -- this stuff is just plain good. It's easy creamy no-bake deliciousness at its best!

No-Bake Strawberry Yum Yum
Easy creamy no-bake deliciousness at its best! Two thick fluffy layers sandwiching a layer of strawberry pie filling makes for one very tasty dessert, indeed. As a fabulous bonus -- it not only tastes great, it's super easy to make, too.
prep time: 30 Mcook time: total time: 30 M
ingredients:
Crust:
- 1 1/4 c. graham cracker crumbs
- 6 T. unsalted butter, melted
Cream Cheese Mixture:
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
- 2 c. whipping cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract, divided
- 3 T. granulated sugar
Strawberry Filling:
- 1 (21 oz.) can strawberry pie filling
instructions:
How to cook No-Bake Strawberry Yum Yum
Prepare the Crust:
- In a bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Blend with a fork until crumbs are moistened.
- Set aside 2 tablespoons of crumbs to sprinkle on the top.
- Press crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9x9-inch pan that's been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:
- With an electric mixer, cream together softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whip the whipping cream, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- By hand, mix together whipped cream and cream cheese mixture until well combined.
Assemble the Yum Yum Layers:
- Spread a little less than half the cream cheese/whipped cream mixture evenly over the crust.
- Drop strawberry pie filling by large spoonfuls on top of the cream cheese layer. Gently spread strawberry pie filling evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Top strawberry layer with the remaining cream cheese/whipped cream mixture. Gently spread it evenly over the strawberry layer, covering it completely.
- Sprinkle the top with the 2 tablespoons reserved graham cracker crumbs.
- Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight before serving.
TRACEY'S NOTES:
- I buy the "premium" strawberry pie filling so there are more strawberries in the Yum Yum strawberry layer.
- You can substitute an 8 ounce container of Cool Whip non-dairy whipped topping for the homemade whipped cream in the cream cheese mixture if you'd like.
- We like our Yum Yum and its layers thick! And that's just how this recipe turns out - nice, thick creamy layers. We recommend doubling the recipe for a 9x13" pan. You could "stretch" this recipe to a 9x13" pan, but the layers will be very thin (and you would probably need to double the crust portion for it to adequately cover the bottom of the pan).

DeleteHi Tracey,
ReplyDeleteThese do look yummy, unfortunately we don’t have cherry or strawberry pie filling in Australia, I’ve seen peach & apple but not the berry ones, we also don’t have graham crackers but that’s ok as there are substitutes. Would it be possible to use frozen berries thawed & drained? I would love to make this
As my husband loves strawberries. Any hel/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for the recipe.
With kindest regards
Reet
You can use frozen berries thawed & drained. There is also a peach yum yum recipe on the blog if you would like to try it.

ReplyDeleteYUM, sounds good. Pinned!
ReplyDeleteI made this and let it sit for 24 hours. It turned out delicious and reminiscent of cheesecake!
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious, similar to a recipe I have that uses crushed pineapple. You mentioned using fresh strawberries, but don't refer to it in the recipe. Do I just use the strawberries sliced and raw? (It's summer where I live!)
