Not many desserts make us happier in our house than Yum Yum.  Whether it's classic Blueberry Yum Yum or a more creative flavor like Banana Pudding Yum Yum, there's just something about the creaminess of Yum Yum's tasty layers that says pure comfort food deliciousness.

And when you combine Yum Yum's creamy-comfort with Oreos?  There's truly just not much better.

When you combine Yum Yum's creamy-comfort with Oreos? There's truly just not much better.

Yum Yum dessert's signature is its two layers of fluffy creaminess that sandwich an inner flavored layer.  And in the case of this Oreo Yum Yum version, those signature creamy layers are also studded with crushed Oreo pieces.  And oh, what an amazingly delicious combination it is.

More Oreos make up the crust and topping, too, delivering up big Oreo flavor in every bite.  And believe me -- That big Oreo flavor quickly made Oreo Yum Yum a favorite at our house.  And my bet is, it will make it a favorite at your house, too.

If you love Oreos, creamy comfort food desserts, and no-bake deliciousness, definitely give Oreo Yum Yum a try.  You won't be disappointed.

Oreo Yum Yum Ingredients

As one would expect, Oreo cookies take center stage in this creamy dreamy Oreo Yum Yum recipe, appearing in 4 of the 5 layers of the dessert.

One 14.3-ounce package of Oreos is enough to prepare this recipe, and you'll have just a few Oreos left over for gobbling straight-up.  Use regular Oreos, not double-stuffed.  The extra cream in double-stuffed makes crushing the Oreos difficult, and adds too much sweetness to the finished Yum Yum.

Here's what you'll need to whip up a pan of Oreo Yum Yum deliciousness ...

Crust:
  • Oreos - Finely crushed Oreos form the Yum Yum crust.  Be sure they are finely crushed for the crust layer, as larger chunks of Oreo in the crust are difficult to cut through when serving this dessert.

  • Butter - Melted butter is the glue that holds the crushed Oreo crust together.

Creamy Layers & Topping:
  • Fresh whipped cream - Fresh homemade whipped cream gives wonderful creaminess and flavor to the Yum Yum's signature creamy layers, and is our preference for this recipe.  Prepared Cool Whip non-dairy whipped topping can be substituted, if you prefer.

  • Cream cheese - Lends body, creaminess, and a nice flavor tang to the creamy layers.

  • Oreos - Unlike with the crust, coarsely crumble Oreos for the creamy layers and topping.  The larger pieces of Oreo soften when mixed in with the whipped cream mixture, and become a tasty little Oreo treat in every bite.

Chocolate Middle Layer:
  • Instant chocolate pudding - A small (3.4-ounce) package of instant chocolate pudding makes the chocolatey middle flavored Yum Yum layer.  Mix up the pudding with less milk than usual, -- just 1 and 1/2 cups milk instead of the usual 2 cups -- to create a thicker, more stable pudding. Sugar-free instant chocolate pudding works just fine in this Oreo Yum Yum recipe, too.

How to Make Oreo Yum Yum

While there are several steps to making and assembling this dessert's five layers, none of the steps in and of themselves are hard.  It takes just about 30 minutes to pull all the layers together.

Start by making the Oreo crust.

Finely crush Oreos to make 1 & 1/2 cups of crumbs.  Then mix the Oreo crumbs with melted butter and press into the bottom of a greased 9x9-inch baking dish.

Do be sure the Oreos are finely crushed for the crust layer, as larger chunks of Oreo in the crust are difficult to cut through when serving this dessert.

Then prepare the mixture for this Oreo Yum Yum's signature fluffy, creamy layers -- which truth be told, is my favorite part.

To make the fluffy creamy mixture, first blend together softened cream cheese and some granulated sugar to sweeten it up.  Then whip up some homemade whipped cream, and fold it into the sweetened cream cheese.

Finally, coarsely crush 8 Oreos and stir them into the whipped cream mixture.  Unlike with the finely-crushed crust Oreos, this time you want bigger pieces of Oreo.  The larger pieces of Oreo soften when mixed in with the whipped cream mixture, and become a tasty little Oreo treat throughout every bite.

Creamy Filling for Oreo Yum Yum Image

Spread a little less than half the creamy mixture evenly over the Oreo crust to start building the Oreo Yum Yum layers.

Mix up the chocolate pudding layer and spread it evenly over the first creamy layer.  Then, top the pudding with the remaining fluffy whipped cream mixture.

Finish off the layers by sprinkling the top with more coarsely crushed Oreos.

Cover the Yum Yum and pop it in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight to set up before serving.

Just as with our other favorite flavors like Cherry Yum Yum and Fresh Strawberry Yum Yum, Oreo Yum Yum just gets better and better as it sits and the layers meld.  We strongly encourage allowing the Yum Yum to sit overnight before serving.  It'll be worth wait, I promise.

Then once everything's set and melded together, you're ready to dig into the deliciousness!

The Oreo Yum Yum deliciousness, that is.  It's sure one amazingly delicious creamy comfort food treat with big Oreo flavor in every bite.

And that big Oreo flavor will quickly make it a family favorite dessert, for sure.  Enjoy!

Prep time: 30 MCook time: Total time: 30 M

Ingredients:

Crust:
  • 1 1/2 c. finely crushed Oreo crumbs
  • 3 T. unsalted butter, melted
Creamy Layer Mixture:
  • 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 c. whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 T. granulated sugar
  • 8 Oreo cookies, coarsely crushed
Chocolate Pudding Filling:
  • 1 small (3.4 oz.) package chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 1 1/2 c. cold milk
Crumb Topping:
  • 6 Oreos, coarsely crumbled

Instructions:

Prepare the Crust:
  1. Crush Oreos into fine crumbs in a gallon-size zip-top baggie with a meat mallet, or pulse them in a food processor until fine, to make 1 and 1/2 cups crumbs.
  2. In a bowl, combine Oreo crumbs with melted butter. Blend with a fork until crumbs are moistened.
  3. Press crumb mixture into the bottom of a 9x9-inch pan that's been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Prepare the Creamy Layer Mixture:
  1. With an electric mixer, cream together softened cream cheese and the 1/2 cup sugar until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the whipping cream, 3 tablespoons sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  3. By hand, mix together whipped cream and cream cheese mixture until well combined.  Stir in coarsely crushed Oreos.
  4. Spread a little less than half the cream cheese/whipped cream mixture evenly over the Oreo crust.
Prepare the Chocolate Pudding Filling:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate instant pudding powder and cold milk. Whisk until well combined and beginning to thicken.
Assemble Remaining Yum Yum Layers:
  1. Drop prepared chocolate pudding filling by large spoonfuls on top of the cream cheese/whipped cream layer. Gently spread pudding evenly over the cream cheese/whipped cream layer, covering it completely.
  2. Top chocolate pudding layer with the remaining cream cheese/whipped cream mixture. Gently spread it evenly over the pudding layer.
  3. Sprinkle coarsely crumbled Oreos evenly over the top of the Yum Yum.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight before serving.
TRACEY'S NOTES:
  1. One 14.3-ounce package of Oreos is enough to prepare this recipe -- You'll have just a few Oreos left over.  Use regular Oreos, not double-stuffed.  The extra cream in double-stuffed makes crushing the Oreas difficult, and adds too much sweetness to the dessert.
  2. When making the crust, be sure the Oreos are finely crushed. Larger chunks of Oreo in the crust are difficult to cut through when serving this dessert. Also, be sure to spray the pan with non-stick spray or the Oreo crust will stick to the pan.
  3. You can substitute an 8 ounce container of Cool Whip non-dairy whipped topping for the homemade whipped cream in the cream cheese mixture if you'd like.
  4. Sugar-free instant chocolate pudding works just fine in this recipe.
  5. Double this recipe to make a larger 9x13-inch pan.
