Are you familiar with the classic strawberry pretzel salad? The one made with a crushed pretzel crust, layered with a sweetened cream cheese mixture, and then strawberries and Jell-o?
It's a strange sounding combination, but believe me ... it's so good. But when I first encountered that "salad" recipe a few years back, I must admit I was skeptical. One bite though, and my skepticism was wiped away.
A riff on the classic strawberry pretzel salad, this dip delivers up that same beloved sweet-and-salty flavor combination. All in a fun dip-able form.
Because the sweetness of the strawberry and cream cheese layers pairs fabulously with the pretzels' saltiness, giving that wonderful sweet-and-salty combination we all love so much.
And it's no different with this creamy Strawberry Pretzel Salad Dip.
A riff on the classic strawberry pretzel salad, this dip delivers up that same beloved sweet-and-salty flavor combination. All in a fun dip-able form. It's a perfect sweet dip to serve up for any occasion.
I was introduced to the concept of this dip at a friend's pool party last summer. She served up a big bowlful for poolside snacking, and let me tell you, it was love at first bite. Seriously, this stuff is addicting ... and I just couldn't get enough of its deliciousness.
Naturally, I came home and immediately jotted down the idea in the recipe notebook I keep. But then it took me until just a week or so ago to get around to whipping up my own version. But I finally did get back around to this tasty idea, and I'm so glad I did.
But I don't just love this dip for its great taste ... I love that it's super easy to make, too.
Our sweet 8-year-old little Miss H. is glad I did, too. She says this stuff is delicious!
But I don't just love this dip for its great taste ... I love that it's super easy to make, too. If you can turn on an electric mixer and stir, you can make this strawberry pretzel salad dip.
And hey, if you let the cream cheese in this recipe fully soften to room temperature before preparing the dip, I bet you could even skip the electric mixer part and stir it all together by hand! See I'm serious, no matter your cooking skill level, you can make this dip.
Simply start by combining some softened cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, vanilla extract, and a small pinch of salt ...
Mix that with an electric mixer until it's well combined and smooth. You want to make sure there are no little lumps of cream cheese that aren't well incorporated with the sugar.
Then stir in a little bit of prepared strawberry pie filling and some Cool Whip ...
Not a fan of Cool Whip? No problem ... just whip up your own whipped cream instead. Homemade whipped cream will work just great, too. Whipping together about 3/4 cup whipping cream, 1 & 1/2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract should do the trick.
Finally, spread the remaining strawberry pie filling all over the top to finish the dip off ...
And that's all there is to making this creamy Strawberry Pretzel Salad Dip!
Serve it up with pretzel dipping sticks, pretzel snaps, or pretzel crisps to bring on that sweet-and-salty combination we love. And to make it a true riff on the classic strawberry pretzel salad.
Then believe me, once you dig into this tasty dip, it'll be love at first bite.
