Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents ~ a perfect quick-and-delicious fall, Halloween, or Thanksgiving pumpkin treat. #warmtraditions AD www.thekitchenismyplayground.com

Once the end of September hits and we round the corner into October, it seems we slide into the holiday season without even realizing it's upon us.  Before we know it, we're picking pumpkins and donning our Halloween costumes, roasting turkeys and celebrating all we're thankful for, singing fa-la-la-la as we search for the perfect presents for those we love, and then clinking glasses to ring in the new year.  Yes, Fall arrives and along with it comes festive events and recipes right through to the end of the year.

And I love it.

I love that the holiday season ... straight through from Halloween to New Years ... is rich with family traditions.  And of course, I love that many of these traditions involve special foods and recipes.

So when Pillsbury® challenged me to put a spin on one of my old and cherished Fall holiday traditions with Pillsbury Crescents®, how could I resist?

Probably needless to say, I couldn't.

One of my family's Fall favorite traditions is  creamy Pumpkin Cheesecake.  Several years before I got married, a friend of mine introduced me to her totally fabulous Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe ... and my entire family has been hooked every since.  It truly was food-love at first bite ... and this particular Pumpkin Cheesecake has become an institution for our family.  To be enjoyed each-and-every Fall once Halloween-time rolls around.

But ... not before.  And not after.

That's right.  Creamy Pumpkin Cheesecake makes its appearance for us from Halloween to Thanksgiving ... then gets tucked away for the rest of the year.  And we eagerly await the time each year when we can whip out and dust off the recipe for this favorite.

So it only made sense that I combine our long-standing cherished Pumpkin Cheesecake tradition with Pillsbury Crescents® to re-engineer our family favorite into a quick-and-delicious treat ~ Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents.

Combining the fabulous flavors and creaminess of our favorite cheesecake with the ease and deliciousness of Crescents®, Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents are perfect for a Fall/Halloween-time/Thanksgiving-time quick dessert or snack.

An added bonus to their great taste?  A platter full of Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents comes together in no time flat.

Simply start with a package of Pillsbury Crescents® ... which I bought at Walmart.

Then whip up a simple cheesecake filling and a pumpkin filling.  Spread both fillings on unbaked Crescents®, roll 'em up, sprinkle with a bit of pumpkin pie spice, and bake for about 12 minutes.

That's it!

With just those few simple steps, you and your family will be enjoying a warm-and-delicious batch of Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents.

Now, if you want to add an extra-special touch to the Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents, drizzle on some melted white chocolate.  It's totally not necessary, but does add just a little extra pizazz to the pumpkin cheesecake deliciousness.

So I hope you enjoy this new spin on my family's old and cherished Fall holiday tradition, inspired by Pillsbury Crescents®.

My only encouragement about this new  tradition is ... unlike our beloved Pumpkin Cheesecake  ... that you don't tuck away Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents after the Fall holiday season.  Enjoy platters of them all year long!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents
(Printable recipe)
Ingredients
  • 1 (8 oz.) package original Pillsbury Crescents®
  • 6 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 T. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/3 c. 100% pure canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • additional pumpkin pie spice for sprinkling
  • 1 oz. white chocolate {optional}
Directions
  1. MIX CHEESECAKE FILLING: In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk with a fork until smooth.
  2. MIX PUMPKIN FILLING: In another small bowl, combine pumpkin, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir until well mixed.
  3. ASSEMBLE & BAKE: Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 individual triangles; place on a baking sheet {I line my baking sheet with parchment for easy clean up}. Place a little less than a tablespoon cheesecake filling on each dough triangle; spread to cover entire triangle. Place about 2 teaspoons pumpkin filling on top of cheesecake filling; spread to cover entire triangle. Starting with the wider end of each triangle, roll up loosely. Sprinkle tops with a bit of pumpkin pie spice.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
  5. Optional White Chocolate Drizzle: Place 1 ounce white chocolate in a small zip-top plastic bag. Break into pieces and push all pieces into one bottom corner of the bag. Fill a small drinking glass or other container with very hot tap water; submerge white chocolate in hot water and let stand for about 1 minute. Massage with your fingers until completely melted and smooth. Snip a very tiny hole in the corner of the bag; drizzle tops of Pumpkin Cheesecake Crescents.
