Sometimes you run across an idea that you just have to replicate. Which is exactly the case with this Swiss Roll Ice Cream. I mean, vanilla ice cream base jam-packed with chopped Little Debbie Swiss Rolls snack cakes? -- Yes, please!

And that's also exactly what I thought when I first encountered Swiss Roll Ice Cream last month at our family's very favorite beach ice cream shop, Beaches -N- Cream in Holden Beach, NC.

Their homemade made-on-site ice cream is so good, Beaches -N- Cream is a required multiple-times stop whenever we're visiting Holden Beach. With an extensive flavor list, the specialty flavors they serve rotate on a daily basis. -- Which means you're in for a fabulous new flavor adventure each time you step foot into their shop.

With a hearty dose of Swiss Rolls stirred into the mix, you get their fabulous chocolatey flavor delivered up in every tasty bite.

On our last visit, as soon as I saw the pan of Swiss Roll ice cream in their case, I knew that's what I was going to get. And, also thinking "Why didn't I think of that??," I knew I was going to make my own version of it as soon as I got back home, as well.

Loaded with hunks of Swiss Rolls in their creamy homemade vanilla ice cream, Beaches -N- Cream's Swiss Roll ice cream was every bit as delicious as I imagined it would be. And while my no-churn version can't hold a candle to theirs, it's a very tasty (and easy) alternative that can be made right at home.

Its combination of vanilla ice cream and chocolatey chopped Swiss Rolls is a delicious one, indeed. With a hearty dose of Swiss Rolls stirred into the mix, you get their fabulous chocolatey flavor delivered up in every tasty bite.

No-Churn Swiss Roll Ice Cream Ingredients:

It takes just 4 ingredients to make a batch of this delicious no-churn Swiss Roll Ice Cream. To whip some up, you'll need:

  • Whipping cream or heavy cream - Once whipped, creates the base of this no-churn ice cream. Either heavy cream with about 36% milk fat, or whipping cream with around 30% milk fat, work great as they each whip up nice and fluffy. Do not substitute half-and-half, which has between 10.5-18% milk fat and will not whip up in a similar manner.

  • Sweetened condensed milk - Serves as the sweetener for the ice cream, and creates its creamy texture. One 14-ounce can is needed for this recipe.

  • Vanilla extract - Flavors the ice cream's whipped cream base. Use 100% pure vanilla extract, rather than imitation, for the best flavor result.

  • Little Debbie Swiss Rolls - The main attraction of this tasty ice cream, and the ingredient for which it is named. This recipe uses not quite all of a 13.3-ounce package of Swiss Rolls.

To get a batch started, first whip some heavy cream or whipping cream until stiff peaks form. Be sure to chill the mixing bowl and beaters in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes before whipping, and have the cream well chilled too, as this helps the cream whip more quickly and fully.
