How to Make Peanut Butter Blossom Bars:

Peanut Butter Blossom Bars are super easy to make. -- And we love that there's no rolling of the dough into individual cookies required. Just press the dough into a 9x13-inch dish instead, and bake.

To get a batch of these tasty bars going, start by mixing up the simple peanut butter cookie dough base. The only thing different from mixing up the dough for classic peanut butter blossom cookies is, for the bars, also stir some milk chocolate chips into the dough.

Mixing Peanut Butter Blossom Bars Dough Image

Press the peanut butter dough evenly into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Then sprinkle it with a couple of teaspoons of white sparkling sugar (or granulated sugar).

Pop the pan in the oven and bake up the dough until the dough has puffed up all over and is a nice golden brown.

Remove from the pan from the oven and immediately top the baked dough with unwrapped Hershey's Kisses in a 4 rows by 6 rows pattern.

After placing the Hershey's Kisses on the baked bars, don't touch the Kisses again until the bars have completely cooled. The Kisses do melt (and glisten!) from the heat of the baked bars, but do keep their shape. If you touch the Kisses at this point, they will smush and their shape will warp.

Sprinkle the baked bars with a little more white sparkling sugar (or granulated sugar). Then cool completely and cut into squares with one of the Hershey's Kisses in the center of each bar.

Peanut Butter Blossom Bars

We all know and love iconic Peanut Butter Blossom cookies -- but why not enjoy this classic treat in easy bar form? Just like their classic cookie inspiration, Peanut Butter Blossom Bars are rich in peanut butter flavor with that signature Hershey's Kiss perched deliciously on top. And they're super easy to make, too.
Prep time: 20 MinCook time: 22 MinTotal time: 42 Min

Ingredients

For the Peanut Butter Blossom Bar dough:
  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk chocolate chips
For the top:
  • 24 Hershey's Kisses, unwrapped
  • 3 tsp. white sparkling sugar OR granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. In large mixing bowl, combine the butter, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, and egg. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until well mixed.
  2. By hand, stir in flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until just combined and a dough forms. Stir in milk chocolate chips.
  3. Press dough into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle evenly with 2 teaspoons of the white sparkling sugar (or granulated sugar).
  4. Bake at 350 for 22-24 minutes, or until puffed up all over and golden brown.
  5. Remove from oven and immediately top with unwrapped Hershey's Kisses in a 4 rows by 6 rows pattern. Sprinkle with remaining teaspoon of the white sparkling sugar (or granulated sugar).
  6. Cool completely. Cut into squares with one of the Hershey's Kisses in the center of each bar.
  7. Store in an airtight container.
TRACEY'S NOTES:
  1. The dough will be a stiff, almost crumbly dough.
  2. After placing the Hershey's Kisses on the baked bars, don't touch the Kisses again until the bars are completely cooled. The Kisses do melt (and glisten) from the heat of the baked bars, but do keep their shape. If you touch the Kisses at this point, they will smush and their shape will warp.

    1. Hi, there! There's no milk in this Peanut Butter Blossom Bars recipe, but there ARE milk chocolate chips -- which is 2/3 cup.

  3. I made this today using peanut butter with “no added sugar”. It was very dry and no peanut butter taste. I made another batch using regular peanut butter and it was perfect. I will definitely make this again, with the correct peanut butter, of course.

    1. We're so glad you enjoyed them, Haley, and stopped back by to let us know! Yes, we definitely love these best with regular JIF peanut butter.

  4. These look delicious. Every Christmas we do a cookie swap, but ours is an adult cookie swap, so we make alcohol cookies, bars, etc. I’m not really a baker, but I’d like to try making these with a little Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey in them, but not sure if I need to add a little more flour to make up for the liquid. Do you have any thoughts on if I should adjust anything?

    1. I'm sure they came out very thick! ... but probably still tasty. There is enough dough for a 9x13" pan.

  8. I wanted to print the recipe & instructions. I ended up printing something like 14 pages. I didn't need all of those pages. Computer ink is very expensive!!!!!! The computer paper is not as expensive. My mother taught me to not waste things, anything!
