The chive & onion cream cheese creates wonderful creaminess and fabulous flavor. -- It's truly amazing the flavor this one little ingredient brings.

Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole Ingredients:

It doesn't take a ton of ingredients to make this super tasty Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole. To whip up a pan, you'll need:

  • Frozen broccoli florets - Thawed frozen broccoli florets easily and conveniently bring the casserole's broccoli element. We recommend florets over chopped broccoli because florets are more tender with less stem pieces in the package. That being said, frozen chopped broccoli can be substituted, if you prefer.

  • Pepperidge Farm herb-seasoned stuffing mix - Serves as the stuffing base of the casserole. Be sure to get regular Pepperidge Farm herb-seasoned stuffing mix, NOT cubed.

  • Cream of mushroom soup - Brings creaminess to the casserole. We have tried the casserole with other flavors of cream soup, and find that cream of mushroom creates the best flavor.

  • Chive & onion cream cheese - The "secret" ingredient that creates both wonderful creaminess and fabulous flavor. -- It's truly amazing the flavor this one little ingredient brings!

  • Milk - Combines with the casserole's cream of mushroom soup and flavored cream cheese to amp up their creaminess.

  • An egg - Serves to bind together the casserole's ingredients as it bakes.

  • Butter - Moistens the herb-seasoned stuffing mix. We recommend unsalted butter, since the stuffing mix is already seasoned and doesn't need the additional salt of salted butter.

  • Salt & pepper - Seasons and enhances the casserole's flavors.

Recipe FAQs:
  • Can you use frozen chopped broccoli instead of florets to make this broccoli casserole? - Yes, you can use frozen chopped broccoli instead of broccoli florets to make Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole, if you'd like. We just much prefer the look and texture of florets.

  • Can you use fresh broccoli instead of frozen to make this broccoli casserole? - Yes, you can use fresh broccoli instead of frozen to make this broccoli casserole. However, fresh broccoli needs to be cooked before adding it to a casserole. For fresh broccoli to work, cut it into florets and blanche it -- which means to cook it quickly in boiling water for 3 - 4 minutes, then immediately plunge (or "shock") it in cold to stop the cooking process. Drain it well, and proceed with the casserole recipe. For ease, we always stick with frozen.

  • Can Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole be made ahead and reheated? - Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole's texture is best when baked and served right after assembling. If you need to prepare the casserole ahead, it's best to assemble the casserole, store it in the refrigerator unbaked, and then bake it right before serving, rather than baking and reheating.

  • Can I freeze Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole? - We do not recommend freezing Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole as it alters the texture of the casserole, especially the bottom stuffing layer.

  • Will cubed stuffing mix work to make Broccoli & Stuffing Casserole? - Broccoli casserole with stuffing works best with regular Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix, not cubed. The cubed variety stays too firm, and creates an unpleasant texture in the finished baked dish.
