Based off the recipe I shared in my post How to Make the Best Oatmeal Cookies, these cookies bring those same wonderful elements of great thickness, soft and chewy middles, great texture, and fantastic flavor ... all with the added bonus of chocolate.
And who can't use a little bonus of chocolate in their cookie-life? I know I'm sure always up for it!
There's definitely a time and place for fancy cookies. But when it comes right down to it, most of the time I'm just a simple girl. And really truly enjoy a good simple cookie best.
Which is why I love these Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. They're a perfect little-bite sweet for a simple no-fuss dessert, or for keeping on hand in the cookie jar for a quick-grab snack.
Or hey, paired with a tall glass of cold milk, they make for a pretty nice breakfast, too. They do have oatmeal in them, after all!
So when it comes to cookie time for me, pass me a nice simple oatmeal cookie over a fancy cookie any time.
Just hold the raisins ... and give me chocolate instead!

Chewy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies ~ When it comes to enjoying everyone's favorite oatmeal cookies, hold the raisins and mix in a hearty dose of chocolate instead!
prep time: 30 Mcook time: 14 Mtotal time: 44 M
ingredients:
- 3/4 c. (1 ½ sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 ½ c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 c. old-fashioned oats
- 1 ½ to 2 c. (8 to 12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
instructions:
How to cook Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Beat butter with an electric mixer at medium speed until creamy, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat well until fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla extract; beat until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to butter mixture and beat until just combined.
- Gently stir in oats by hand until just combined; then stir in chocolate chips.
- Use your hands to roll 2 tablespoons dough into a ball. Place on baking sheet and gently press down with the palm of your hand to flatten the dough ball just slightly. Repeat with remaining dough, spacing dough balls about 2 ½” apart on the baking sheet {so you’ll only get about 8 or 9 on the baking sheet at a time}.
- Bake at 350℉ for 13 - 14 minutes, or until golden brown and set on the edges but still doughy looking in the middles. Let cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes, then place on a wire rack to cool completely.

I love you so much for this recipe. Raisins in cookies that ought to have chocolate are the source of my trust issues. Ha!
ReplyDeleteWe don’t really argue about cookies around here – probably because we’ll both eat and love pretty much any cookie out there :) These look great!
ReplyDeleteMy most favorite cookies are oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. There's just something about the oatmeal that I like. I agree, hold the raisins. Thanks for sharing. I pinned this recipe. Happy November!
