Pineapple Ham Roll-Ups Ingredients:
It takes just 5 simple ingredients + a pinch of salt to make these tasty Pineapple Ham Roll-Ups. To whip up a batch, you'll need:
- Deli ham slices - Slices of ham from the deli that are on the larger side, rather than smaller packaged ham slices, work best for this recipe. About six slices are needed, which is about 1/3 to 1/2 of a pound total.
- Cream cheese - Creates the base of the roll-up filling. Regular cream cheese works better than lower-fat cream cheese to create a firmer filling.
- Crushed pineapple - Brings in the roll-ups' signature pineapple flavor. Half of an 8-ounce can of crushed pineapple is needed.
- Green pepper - Finely chopped green pepper pairs beautifully as a savory contrast with the filling's sweet pineapple.
- Green onion - Two chopped green onions nicely season the pineapple-cream cheese filling.
- Salt - Enhances and rounds out the filling's flavors.
How to Make Pineapple Ham Roll-Ups:
Pineapple Ham Roll-Ups are super quick and easy to make.
To make the pineapple cream cheese filling, simply stir together a block of cream cheese with some drained crushed pineapple, a bit of chopped green pepper, chopped green onion, and a pinch of salt until they're all well combined.
Then to assemble the roll-ups, start by laying out a slice of ham. Top the ham slice with about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling mixture, spreading it into an even layer and leaving about a 1/4-inch border around the edges.
Starting with the shorter side, roll the ham slice up tightly.
Repeat this with the remaining ham slices and cream cheese mixture to make 6 rolls total.
Wrap each roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate the rolls for several hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld and firm the filling up a bit.
At serving time, unwrap and cut each ham roll into 5 or 6 pieces. Then serve them alone as bites, or as a tasty topping for buttery crackers. Either way, Pineapple Ham Roll-Ups are one delicious savory game day and party treat.

Do you think you can freeze the extra cream cheese mixture for later use?
ReplyDeleteWe do not recommend freezing the mixture as it will change the texture. If your family is like mine I always make a few extra, enjoy.
DeleteI have been making a version of these for many years. I can’t wait to try them with pineapple and green peppers. I just used scallions and lots of garlic powder. I also would put them into the freezer for an hour or two to slice easier.
ReplyDeletePlease let us know how they turn out. And thank you for the tip to make it easier to slice.
DeleteI think pickled, or fresh, or candied jalapeños finely diced, would be so good in the cream cheese mixture.
