Eggnog Whipped Cream Ingredients:

It takes just 4 simple ingredients to make Eggnog Whipped Cream. To whip up a batch, you'll need:

  • Heavy or whipping cream - Serves as the base of the whipped cream, since eggnog alone will not fully whip into a nice, fluffy whipped cream. Either heavy cream or whipping cream works great.

  • Eggnog - Adds the eggnog element to the whipped cream. Any prepared eggnog works fine.

  • Powdered sugar - Sweetens the whipped cream. Powdered sugar is also known as confectioners' sugar.

  • Ground nutmeg - As the signature eggnog spice, a bit of ground nutmeg enhances the whipped cream's eggnog flavor.

How to Make Eggnog Whipped Cream:

Have you been wondering how to make whipped cream from eggnog? -- Well, the process of making Eggnog Whipped Cream is just the same as making regular whipped cream with heavy cream, with just the addition of prepared eggnog and a bit of ground nutmeg into the mix. And it's truly easy to make.

To (literally) whip up a batch, simply combine some heavy cream, eggnog, and a bit of ground nutmeg in a chilled bowl. Chilling the bowl (and the mixers for the electric mixer, even) helps the cream whip more readily, so it's important to take the few minutes to pop them in the refrigerator before getting started with the whipped cream.

Beat the cream and eggnog mixture with an electric mixer on medium-low to medium speed until it becomes slightly thickened.

Then, increase the mixer speed to high and, while still beating, gradually add the powdered sugar. Continue beating the mixture until medium-stiff peaks form.

Because of the eggnog in the mixture, the whipped cream will be a bit "looser" than regular cream-only whipped cream. -- So don't keep beating to try to achieve stiff peaks with this whipped cream. Stiff peaks most likely won't ever happen.

Serve it atop pecan pie, no-bake peanut butter pie, instant eggnog pudding, our very favorite Chocolate Crack Pie, or any other Christmas dessert you'd like. -- Because it sure makes for one very tasty holiday sweet treat.

Recipe FAQs:
  • Can you whip just eggnog into whipped cream? - Unfortunately no, you cannot whip just eggnog alone into whipped cream. Eggnog isn't quite creamy enough nor does it have quite enough fat to hold whipped cream peaks on its own. It takes mixing eggnog with heavy or whipping cream for it to whip up into whipped cream.

  • What ratio of eggnog to cream is needed to make eggnog whipped cream? - Typically, to make eggnog whipped cream you need to use a ratio of 1/2 cup of eggnog for every 1 cup of heavy (or whipping) cream. This mixture will whip up into a nice creamy, fluffy whipped cream that holds medium to medium-stiff peaks. Using more than 1/2 cup eggnog per cup of cream will thin the mixture too much for it to whip successfully.

  • Can you add rum to eggnog whipped cream? - Sure, you can add rum to eggnog whipped cream if you'd like. To keep from diluting down and thinning the mixture too much (and therefore, causing the mixture to have trouble whipping), we suggest using about 1/2 teaspoon of rum extract. If you'd rather use real rum, use no more than 1 tablespoon.

  • How long can I store eggnog whipped cream in the refrigerator? - Eggnog whipped cream can be stored in the refrigerator just fine for up to 2 to 3 days. Store it covered in the refrigerator in an airtight container.
