Easy Cheeseburger Slider Ingredients:

The ingredients for easy Cheeseburger Sliders are pretty straight-forward. To whip up a pan, you'll need:

  • Ground beef - Leaner ground beef works best in this recipe. We recommend choosing 85/15 or 90/10 for the best result.

  • Onion - A small sprinkling of finely chopped onion in the bottom of the pan nicely seasons the ground beef as it bakes.

  • American cheese - The classic cheeseburger cheese, am I right?

  • Pickle slices - A round dill pickle slice tops each slider burger.

  • Ketchup - The classic burger topping. Add other condiments as well, if you'd like.

  • Salt & pepper - A simple sprinkling of salt and pepper seasons and enhances the ground beef's flavor.

  • Kings Hawaiian rolls - The perfect slider rolls. Choose Kings Hawaiian sweet rolls our savory rolls, whichever you prefer.

  • Butter - Buttered rolls make for extra-special burgers, and it's no different with these easy little sliders.

How to Make Easy Cheeseburger Sliders:

These Cheeseburger Sliders truly are quick and easy to make. Baked in a one-pan "slab," topped, and cut with a pizza cutter to create individual burgers, these tasty little sliders are almost effortless. -- And go from start to serve in right about 30 minutes.

To whip up a batch, start by scattering some finely chopped onion in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. -- No need to even mix the onion into the ground beef. The onion will blend with and season the beef from the bottom as the burgers bake.

Then, place a pound and a half of ground beef in the pan on top of the onions. Firmly press the ground beef down into an even layer that completely fills the pan to the edges. I use my hands, but you could also use a spatula, or large serving or wooden spoon.

Season the ground beef with a generous sprinkling of salt and pepper.

Pop the pan in the oven and bake the ground beef for about 15 minutes until it's cooked through. The beef will shrink away from the edges of the pan as it bakes, ending up as a slab almost perfectly-sized to fit the Kings Hawaiian rolls.

To prevent too much shrinkage, we recommend using 85/15 or 90/10 ground beef for the best result. Ground beef with a higher fat content can shrink too much.

While the ground beef bakes, use a serrated knife to slice a package of Kings Hawaiian rolls open horizontally. Spread the cut edges of both the tops and bottoms with butter. Place the rolls, buttered sides up, on a cookie or baking sheet lightly coated with non-stick cooking spray. Then set these aside, ready to pop them in the oven after the ground beef burgers are baked.

Once the ground beef is cooked, pour off the grease from the pan. Pop the buttered rolls into the oven and bake them for 5-6 minutes while you finish preparing the cheeseburgers.

Cutting Easy Cheeseburger Sliders with Pizza Cutter Image

Top the cooked ground beef with the American cheese slices. Then with a pizza cutter, cut the burgers into 12 squares.

I have to note, the pizza cutter cuts won't follow the lines of the cheese slices. -- Which can be a little challenging to the mind! You'll end up cutting through the cheese slices, rather than on the lines where the slices meet up.

Place a pickle slice in the center of each cheeseburger square. Then, drizzle the entire bunch with ketchup.

Super easy, right?

Serve them up as an almost effortless dinner main dish, or as the perfect party and game day snack. They're sure to be gobbled up quickly and loved by all. Because, I mean, who doesn't love a cheeseburger?

Recipe FAQs:

  • What is the best type of ground beef to use to make cheeseburger sliders? - This baked cheeseburger slider recipe works best with leaner types of ground beef. We recommend 85/15 or 90/10 ground beef for the best result. Fuller-fat ground beef creates too much grease and shrinks too much as it bakes.
  • Can I bake cheeseburger sliders on a sheet pan to make a larger batch? - Absolutely. To make 24 sliders, you can simply double the recipe ingredients and bake two 9x13-inch pans at once. Or, press the meat out on a larger 13x18-inch sheet pan.
  • Can these cheeseburger sliders be made ahead of time? - This is a time when I would say fresh-made is best. That being said, if you do need to prepare these ahead of time, I recommend baking the ground beef and refrigerating the cooked burger "slab" until needed. At the time of serving, reheat the ground beef in the microwave, top with the cheese and condiments, and assemble on freshly-buttered & baked slider rolls. If you fully assemble the burgers on the rolls ahead of time and refrigerate them, the rolls will dry out.
