Honey BBQ chicken bites, sharp cheddar cheese, a drizzle of Ranch, and a slather of honey butter combine beautifully to create truly fabulous flavor in every bite.
We credit our almost 12-year-old daughter with coming up with this Honey BBQ Chicken Sliders recipe, and I must say, she's quite proud of her creation. (As she should be, because these sliders taste absolutely amazing.) While having lunch at a friend's house, she was served her friend's "famous" sub -- Anytizers Honey BBQ chicken bites in a hot dog bun, sprinkled with cheese, and topped with Ranch. Our daughter raved about how good it was, and decided we should turn the combination into a recipe to share here on the blog.
We switched her friend's "famous" sub concept to a slider, added a generous slathering of honey butter, baked them up in the oven, and these wonderfully tasty Honey BBQ Chicken Sliders were born. -- To the approval of both our daughter and us grown-ups, alike.

Honey BBQ Chicken Slider Ingredients:
To whip up a batch of these flavorful Honey BBQ Chicken Sliders, you'll need:
- Tyson brand Anytizers Honey BBQ Boneless Chicken Bites - Create the convenient and tasty main filling of the sliders. Look for Anytizers chicken bites in the frozen snacks aisle of the grocery store.
- King's Hawaiian savory rolls - Form the sandwich base of the sliders. King's Hawaiian sweet rolls or any other small dinner rolls can be substituted just fine.
- Unsalted butter & honey - Combine these together to create a simple honey butter that brings wonderful flavor when slathered on the sliders' rolls.
- Sharp cheddar cheese slices - Five sharp cheddar cheese slices are layered under the chicken bites, getting melty when baked and combining beautifully with the BBQ flavor of the bites.
- Ranch dressing - A tasty drizzling of Ranch nicely (and flavorfully) finishes the sliders.
How to Make Honey BBQ Chicken Sliders:
To get a batch of these Honey BBQ Chicken Sliders going, start by whipping up a really quick honey butter.
Simply combine some softened unsalted butter, honey, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Stir them together until everything's well mixed.
Then cut open a package of King's Hawaiian savory rolls or other small dinner rolls. You're cutting the rolls open horizontally here, so they lay out in a "sheet" of top halves and a "sheet" of bottom halves. A serrated bread knife or other long serrated knife is best to use for this, and makes cutting the rolls open the easiest.
Spread the cut side of both the top and bottom portions of the rolls evenly with the honey-butter mixture.
Cover the bottom portion of the rolls with a layer of cheddar cheese slices.
Then place a warm chicken bite (or two, depending on the chicken bites' size) on the bottom portion of each slider roll on top of the cheese.
Drizzle Ranch dressing over the chicken bites and then place the top portion of the rolls on top.
Cover the sliders in foil and bake them up for about 15–20 minutes until they're heated through and the cheese is melty.
Unwrap the sliders once they're out of the oven, and then serve up the warm honey BBQ deliciousness!
And believe me, with their fabulous flavor, a batch of these tasty little sliders sure won't last for long.
Recipe FAQs:
- Is it necessary to cook the chicken bites first before assembling the sliders? - We have found that at least partially heating the chicken bites before assembling the sliders works best to create the best-textured finished sliders. If you place the chicken bites in the sliders while frozen and uncooked, the sliders have to bake a long time to fully heat the chicken, making the slider rolls tough and crunchy.
- Can I make these sliders with other flavors of prepared boneless chicken bites? - Sure! Try any flavor of prepared boneless chicken bites you'd like. You may just want to change out the honey butter spread for plain butter, depending on the flavor of the chicken.
- What can I substitute for King's Hawaiian rolls? - King's Hawaiian savory or sweet rolls work great for slider recipes, however, any other small dinner rolls can be substituted just fine.

These are some of my favorites from Tyson. But I have never even imaged putting them in slider. Brilliant! That is why I am not a food blogger so I am glad you share your recipes with us each week. I have pinned this to try out the next time the kids come over for dinner. Thanks for sharing. #HomeMattersParty
