Crescent Sausage & Egg Casserole Ingredients:

It takes just 5 ingredients plus some salt and pepper to make this tasty Crescent Sausage and Egg Casserole. To whip up a pan, you'll need:

  • Crescent Rolls - An 8-ounce tube of Crescent Rolls creates the base of the casserole. Either regular crescent roll dough or the non-perforated dough sheet works for this recipe.

  • Pork sausage - One pound of bulk pork sausage, cooked and crumbled, serves as the casserole's sausage topping. Bulk turkey sausage can be substituted instead, if you'd like.

  • Eggs - Eight large eggs make up the egg layer of the casserole.

  • Milk - Combines with the eggs to make them fluffier and creamier as they bake. Whole or 2% milk both work just fine with this recipe.

  • Shredded mozzarella cheese - Brings a flavorful cheesy element to the dish. Pre-shredded mozzarella works fine, or grate your own for even more creamy melted cheese.

  • Salt & pepper - Nicely season the eggs to enhance and brighten the casserole's flavors.

How to Make Crescent Sausage & Egg Casserole:

A pan of Crescent Sausage & Egg Casserole comes together pretty quickly and easily.

Start by cooking a pound of sausage over medium heat until it's cooked through and no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks.

Unroll a tube of crescent roll dough into the bottom of a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, using your fingers to press the dough all the way to the pan edges and to press together the seams. Sprinkle the dough with the cooked sausage and then with a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Pop the casserole in the oven and bake it for about 35-40 minutes, until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

If you'd like to prep the casserole in advance, that's no problem. It can even be prepared the night before and refrigerated overnight before baking.

To make Crescent Sausage & Egg Casserole in advance, simply assemble the casserole up to the point of baking -- meaning, layer all the ingredients in the baking dish and pour in the egg mixture. Then cover and refrigerate the assembled casserole until you're ready to bake it.

At baking time, remove the casserole from the refrigerator while the oven preheats. Then bake as directed, increasing the bake time as necessary until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
