At our house, we love fun and flavorful twists on basic pigs in a blanket. Tasty twists like Pigs In a Blanket With the Works and Reuben Pigs In a Blanket are always favorites. And now Glazed Pigs In a Blanket go right along with them.

The glaze is a sweet-and-savory mix of butter, brown sugar, yellow mustard, seasonings, and poppy seeds. It's very much like the buttery mixture used in those classic ham & cheese party sandwiches everyone also loves so much -- you know the ones made on the little Kings Hawaiian rolls? This recipe just adds in the sweet brown sugar component to go with the piggies.

So if you're looking for a tasty twist on basic pigs in a blanket, give Glazed Pigs In a Blanket a try. With their buttery brown sugar glaze, they're simply perfect for game day, tailgating, and as any party's fare.

Glazed Pigs In a Blanket Ingredients:

Glazed Pigs In a Blanket are a fun and flavorful twist on everyone's favorite classic savory treat. For the "pigs" part of the recipe, you'll need:

  • Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies or other mini hot dogs - It's not Pigs In a Blanket without the piggies! There are about 35 to 40 links in each 12-ounce package of Lit'l Smokies, so a single package should work just fine for this recipe.

How to Make Glazed Pigs In a Blanket:

Just like regular Pigs In a Blanket, Glazed Pigs In a Blanket are pretty easy to make. There's just the extra step of making the glaze. -- But that little bit of extra effort is sure worth it!

To whip up a pan, start by wrapping the piggies. To do that, unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles along the perforations. Then cut each triangle through the point into two pieces, creating two long triangles from each.

Place a Lit'l Smokie on top toward the wide end of each crescent dough piece. Beginning at the wide end, roll each Lit'l Smokie up in the crescent dough, ending at the dough's tip. Each Lit'l Smokie should peek out a bit on both sides of the roll.

Place the piggie rolls in a 9x13-inch baking dish greased with non-stick cooking spray.

To prepare the glaze, melt some butter in a small saucepan. Then add brown sugar, some prepared yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, removing it from the heat as soon as the glaze comes to a boil.

Brush the tops of each piggy in the pan with some glaze to be sure each one gets coated. Then pour the remaining glaze all over the rolls.

  12. How do these taste at room temperature? I need to bake these in the morning before work. I won’t be able to warm up later— except for a microwave. . .which usually isn’t very kind to bread items.
