File this under "recipes that don't seem like they should work, but totally do."

Why does it seem this recipe shouldn't work, you ask? Because you basically drench mini Saltine crackers in oil to adhere their seasoning, which one would think would create a complete soggy mess. Only it doesn't. Instead, it leads to super easy and amazing spicy-Ranch deliciousness. -- Without a bit of sogginess in sight.

Somewhat surprisingly, the recipe's oil is fully absorbed into the crackers without making them soggy or greasy-feeling at all. The oil simply serves to adhere the flavorful seasoning to the surface of the crackers. Which lets these Fire Crackers! be no-bake and super easy to make.

These super easy seasoned Saltines are no bake, simple to make, and quite possibly the tastiest little party crackers around.

Now I've seen these spicy little bites referred to as seasoned Saltines, party crackers, Alabama Fire Crackers, and quite simply as Fire Crackers, like we call them. I do also affectionately refer to them as spicy "cracker shakes," because of the way they're made with just shaking all their ingredients together.

But regardless of what you call them, Fire Crackers! are amazingly good. Seasoned with a mixture of dry Ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and a very generous dose of crushed red pepper flakes, these things are addictively delicious, for sure. And as you probably guessed, it's their generous dose of crushed red pepper flakes that give Fire Crackers! their heat and their name.

No bake, simple to make, and quite possibly the tastiest little party crackers around, Fire Crackers! are perfect for parties, afternoon snacking, and especially for game day munching.

Fire Crackers Ingredients:

It doesn't take many ingredients to make these addictive little Fire Crackers! To whip up a batch, you'll need:
  • Saltine minis - Mini Saltines make these crackers perfectly snackable. The recipe does work with regular-sized Saltines, as well.

  • Canola oil - Serves to bind the seasonings to the crackers. Vegetable oil also works just fine.

  • Garlic powder & onion powder - Further amp up this savory treat's fabulous flavor.

  • Jumbo (2-gallon) Ziploc bag - A jumbo 2-gallon sized Ziploc bag holds the full batch of crackers, and makes the recipe super easy to make. Use a large shallow container with a tight-fitting lid instead, if needed.

How to Make Fire Crackers:

Whipping up a batch of Fire Crackers! truly couldn't be any easier.

Simply place some canola (or vegetable) oil in a jumbo (2-gallon) Ziploc bag, and then add crushed red pepper flakes, dry Ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, and onion powder. Seal the bag and work the mixture with your hands to thoroughly combine the oil and seasonings. If you can't find jumbo Ziploc bags at the store, use a large shallow container with a tight-fitting lid instead.

Then add two boxes of Saltine minis to the bag.

Seal the Ziploc bag with some air in it -- the air allows the crackers some room to move around. Gently turn the bag over and over to tumble the crackers around until all the crackers are coated with the oil and seasoning mixture.

Let the bag sit for about an hour, then gently turn it again. Repeat this several times over the matter of a few hours until all of the oil mixture is absorbed.

Then allow the crackers to rest in the bag overnight to best develop their flavor.

Super easy, right?
