I'm always on the lookout for dinner ideas that are easy, tasty, made with everyday ingredients I probably have on-hand at the house, and kid-friendly to boot.  When planning dinner for your family everyday, this can be a tough bill to fill.  Right?

I'm happy to say this Hamburger Noodle Bake fits that bill on all accounts.

Our 9-year-old daughter, Miss H., isn't a big casserole kind of girl.  She much prefers a meat, veggie, and starchy-side kind of meal.  A saucy casserole with loads of stuff in it? - She's going to turn her nose up and have to be convinced to give it a try.

A big pan of oven barbecue chicken thighs, on the other hand?  She could probably scarf down half the pan in no-time flat.

Hamburger Noodle Bake is loaded with lots of meat surrounded in delicious yet simple flavors. - Which makes it a very family-friendly dinner, indeed.

I, however, grew up eating casseroles and have carried over my love for them into my cooking style.  While it can be tough to find casseroles that are kid-friendly for Miss H's taste, I have managed to find a few.

She's good with Beef Stroganoff Casserole - thank goodness, because it's my very favorite from my childhood.  And Creamy Chicken Rice Casserole, Meatball Parmesan Casserole, and Baked Ham Macaroni and Cheese I'm happy to say have all made her "approved" list.  Around the holidays, she's good with Leftover Turkey Noodle Casserole, too.

Our newest addition to the Miss H-approved casserole list?  This Hamburger Noodle Bake.

Much like Miss H's other approved casseroles, Hamburger Noodle Bake is loaded with lots of meat surrounded in delicious yet simple flavors. - Which makes it a very family-friendly dinner, indeed.

From a mom's perspective? Hamburger Noodle Bake comes together easily and doesn't have any crazy-fancy ingredients.  This makes it a win-win for the grown-ups and kids, alike.

The casserole starts with a layer of creamy noodles, made much like our reader-favorite Creamy Baked Noodles.  Simply boil some egg noodles according to their package directions.

Then, combine the noodles with a mixture of cream cheese, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt.

Spread the seasoned creamy noodles evenly in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.

While the noodles cook, brown some ground beef with a little chopped onion and green pepper.

Then stir in some tomato sauce, a bit of ketchup, and a little black pepper.  Simmer this mixture together for about 10 minutes.

The ketchup adds a little sweetness to the sauce that's appealing to the kids.  To be honest, I'm not a huge ketchup fan but do still like this casserole.  The taste of the ketchup is noticeable and there, but it's not overpoweringly ketchup-y.

Spread the saucy meat mixture on top of the creamy noodles ...

And then top everything with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.

Bake it all up until everything's heated through and the sauce has started to get bubbly around the edges, about 20 to 25 minutes.
