You've heard about the classic summer drink, an Arnold Palmer, right? - That classic tasty combination of part lemonade, part sweet tea made famous by the legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer.

I always think of an Arnold Palmer as half lemonade and half iced tea, but rumor has it that Arnold himself said the iced tea part should be dominate.  When Arnold had an Arnold Palmer? - He drank it with about 1/3 lemonade and 2/3 iced tea.

But did you know there are also alcohol versions of Palmer's classic drink?  A seemingly large number of alcohol versions, that is, each with its own little different nuance to it.

This particular vodka-based version I'm sharing is known by two names - a Dirty Arnold Palmer, or a John Daly cocktail.

In doing a little research to be sure I was referring to our favorite Palmer cocktail correctly, I came across a plethora of different variations.  Some made with vodka, some made with bourbon, some with sweet tea vodka, and some with Limoncello.  I came across such names as spiked Arnold Palmer, vodka Palmer, Captain Palmer, and even one called Back Nine.

This particular vodka-based version that's our favorite is known by two names - a Dirty Arnold Palmer, or a John Daly cocktail.

John Daly, as you may know, is another famous American professional golfer - one who is much less debonnaire and refined, shall we say, than Arnold Palmer.  So I guess it would make sense then that a "rougher" version of the Arnold Palmer drink may bear Mr. Daly's name?

But one thing's for sure, no matter what you call this classic summer cocktail - it's just as refreshingly delicious on a hot day as the original Arnold Palmer drink!

Making a Dirty Arnold Palmer is really super easy.

Just take the two ingredients of a classic non-alcoholic Arnold Palmer - lemonade and iced tea - and place them in a tall cocktail glass.

We used prepared lemonade and prepared iced tea from the grocery store, but you could certainly use your own homemade, if you'd like.

Then add in a splash of vodka.

Add ice to the glass and stir for a few seconds to chill the cocktail.  Top everything off with a lemon wedge or two, if you'd like, and you're good to go!

It is, indeed, truly that easy to prepare one of these tasty drinks.

But what if you're planning to serve several folks and would rather mix up Dirty Arnold Palmers by the pitcher?

It's just as easy to whip up a pitcher full, simply by increasing the amounts of each ingredient.

No problem!

It's just as easy to whip up a pitcher full, simply by increasing the amounts of each ingredient.

The pitcher can easily be made up ahead of time, too.  Just mix the iced tea, lemonade, and vodka together, leaving out the ice and lemon wedges (if you plan to include them).  Refrigerate the mixture, and add in the ice and lemon wedges right at serving time.
