I sure love me some cocktails.  And as can be seen in the beverages section of our recipe index, there is certainly no shortage of them here on The Kitchen is My Playground.

Whether it's a tasty Cake By the Ocean cocktail or Coconut Mojito for summer, a Sparkling Apple Pie cocktail for fall, or pretty much anything in between ... I'm game.  I just love mixing up a great tasting cocktail and relaxing while sipping on it at home.  I especially love enjoying one while I'm cooking dinner or as an after-dinner treat.

Just pour two readily-available liquors over ice, give them a gentle stir, and you're good to go.  My kind of quick and easy cocktail.

And when I find a great tasting cocktail that's super easy to make with just two simple ingredients?  That's even better!  Which is exactly the case with this minty Peppermint Patty cocktail.

No fancy mixing methods required.  No exotic ingredients.  Just pour two readily-available liquors over ice, give them a gentle stir, and you're good to go.  My kind of quick and easy cocktail.

If you want to add to the cocktail's fun?

Garnish it with a couple of mini York Peppermint Patties ~ they're super cute and tasty with the drink.  But are totally optional, of course.

Peppermint Pattie Cocktail Ingredients:

It takes just two ingredients to make a tasty Peppermint Pattie Cocktail. So, just what are those two ingredients?

  • Clear Creme de Cacao - A chocolate flavored liqueur. Creme de Cacao comes in both clear and brown varieties. -- Choose clear for this cocktail. The taste is the same for both, but if you use brown Creme de Cacao your finished drink is going to be a muddy color instead of the bright clear drinks like you see in these photos.

  • Peppermint Schnapps - A strongly-mint flavored liqueur that brings the classic Peppermint Pattie mint element to the cocktail.

Both of these liqueurs are readily available in most liquor stores.

How to Make a Peppermint Pattie Cocktail:

I love that this 2-ingredient Peppermint Pattie cocktail is so easy to make.

To whip one up, truly, just place some ice in a old-fashioned/"on the rocks" glass and then pour in equal parts clear Creme de Cacao and Peppermint Schnapps.  Give a gentle little stir to combine the liquors, and that's it.

No cocktail shaker involved.  No straining.  No fruit squeezing.  Nothing.  A very straightforward, easy cocktail.

The most complicated part is the garnish ~ and hey, that's totally optional.

For the garnish, I took two mini York Peppermint Patties and pushed them through the middle onto a cocktail pick.  (I may have broken one or two in the process while prepping this drink's photo shoot ... and they just maybe may have become a little photo shoot snack.)

Then I rested the cocktail pick against the inside of the glass and set a small mint leaf alongside it.  I think it adds a really nice look to the cocktail.  Not to mention, you get eat a little candy treat while enjoying your drink.

But you can certainly just drop a small mint leaf onto the top of the cocktail, or skip a garnish altogether.  The cocktail will still have all the same chocolate-minty deliciousness!

When enjoying this cocktail, do be aware that it's straight alcohol -- so it's a strong one.  There's no fruit juice, seltzer water, or tonic cutting it down.

The taste of a Peppermint Pattie cocktail is strong mint with a hint of chocolate.  If you enjoy the chocolate-covered York candies of the same name, you'll love this drink.  It's definitely mint-forward.

If you're a lover of the chocolate-mint combo like me, enjoy sipping on a tasty Peppermint Pattie cocktail as a refreshing after-dinner, St. Patrick's Day, or any day treat.

Not a fan of the chocolate-mint combination?  Skip this drink -- it's not for you.  That would be my husband ... no mint and chocolate together for him.

But if you're a lover of the combo like me, enjoy sipping on a tasty Peppermint Pattie cocktail as a refreshing after-dinner, St. Patrick's Day, or any day treat.

You can whip one up and be sipping it in no-time flat!
