One of my favorite drinks to enjoy is a bubbling, sparkly champagne cocktail. And sure, I adore a basic standard champagne cocktail, no doubt.
But I also love champagne cocktails that are a bit more unique than the basic ~ like amazingly tasty Champagne Margaritas, or a Sparkling Apple Pie Cocktail full of the apple and cinnamon flavors of a fresh-baked apple pie, or even a fresh berry-loaded Champagne Cobbler Cocktail.
Laced with brandy, Grand Marnier, and a hint of fresh orange, these are quite tasty indeed.
There's just something so refreshing about sipping away on champagne's fun little bubbles, and champagne makes even the most mundane of days feel extra special.
My latest find in the champagne cocktail realm is this Royal Champagne Cocktail I discovered in my favorite bar guide. Laced with brandy, Grand Marnier, and a hint of fresh orange, these are quite tasty little gems indeed.
Brandy and Grand Marnier give these Royal Champagne Cocktails quite a powerful punch. They are a tad on the strong side, so back off a little on the brandy and Grand Marnier amounts if you'd like a less robust cocktail.
Grand Marnier, an orange liqueur, and a fresh orange twist give these cocktails their characteristic orange flavor.
So just how do you make a Royal Champagne Cocktail? It's easy ...
Start by making an orange twist, which is a cut strip of orange zest.
Working from the stem end of an orange to the bottom, use a small knife to cut a 1/2-inch wide strip of the outer orange skin of the orange, incorporating as little of the white pith as possible. The white pith is bitter, so you really want to work hard to leave that behind and let it stay on the orange.
Ideally, twist the orange zest strip while holding it a few inches above the champagne flute you're using for the cocktail so the mist of oils released go into the glass.
Once cut, hold the orange zest strip with the white pith side up and twist the two ends in opposite directions. Ideally, twist the orange zest strip while holding it a few inches above the champagne flute you're using for the cocktail so the mist of oils released go into the glass.
After you've twisted the zest, run the twist around the rim of the champagne flute to coat it lightly with orange.
Then, set the orange twist aside to use as garnish once the cocktail is complete.
Next, add a tablespoon each of brandy and Grand Marnier to the champagne flute ...
And then pour in 5 ounces of chilled champagne or other sparkling wine.
Finally, gently drop the reserved orange twist onto the top of the cocktail for garnish. Then serve these up immediately to fully enjoy all those fabulous champagne bubbles.
And that's all there is to it ... Just a few simple steps to kick those champagne cocktails up a notch and make them royal!

Personally, I think these would be just perfect for so many occasions - like a bridal shower or luncheon, for Mother's Day, girls' night in, or for New Year's Eve of course.
Or, how about serving them for brunch instead of mimosas?
One thing's for sure, no matter when you serve them, Royal Champagne Cocktails are sure one tasty little champagne cocktail treat.
