It's the most wonderful time of the year!  Yes, the holidays are upon us ... And along with them come lots of Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers with family and friends.

Get-togethers with those we love are indeed one of the best parts about the holidays, but they can also leaving us scrambling to get everything prepared.  And I don't know about you, but the last thing I like to do is feel frenzied right before I have guests arriving.

So why not take advantage of slow cooker convenience to serve up classic holiday appetizers and party foods when you've got a crew coming over?  The slow cooker makes it so easy to prepare party foods, like these Slow Cooker Cranberry Meatballs, ahead of time ... and stop the last minute scramble.

Not to mention, the slow cooker can easily keep these meatballs and other party foods warm throughout the get-together, too.

But if you'd rather not prepare these in the slow cooker for some reason, no problem.  Just simmer the meatballs in the sauce on the stove top for about an hour and half or so.

I inherited this Slow Cooker Cranberry Meatballs recipe from my Mom.  Turns out, it's a classic recipe that's been around forever and ever, and is printed on the label of the canned cranberry jelly used as the base of the sauce.  This version from Mom is a tad bit different than the label-printed one, adding in brown sugar and lemon juice to the sauce ... which adds a bit more depth of flavor.

But whether you make these Mom's way or the "original" way with just cranberry jelly and chili sauce, these meatballs are a classic for a reason ~ because they're just plain good.

And even better when you take away some holiday get-together frenzy by preparing them with slow cooker convenience.
