You know those times you want to share the love of a delicious dessert, but for whatever reason you just don't have time to devote in the kitchen?  Maybe you're headed to a party and want to bring a sweet treat ... or bringing dinner to an ailing neighbor ... or helping stock the refrigerator of a friend for those first few just-had-a-baby days?

Well, I've got a simple idea for sharing the deliciousness even when time is tight.  Dress up a Sara Lee Cheesecake with this quick & easy Toffee Sauce recipe!

Truly, preparing this delectable doctored-up dessert couldn't be easier.  Simply grab a Sara Lee Original Cream Cheesecake from the freezer section when you're out grocery shopping ... I got mine at my nearby Food Lion.  Then, whip up a batch of this easy Toffee Sauce by simply bringing some sugar, butter, and whipping cream to a boil ... and then, off the heat, stirring in milk chocolate toffee bits.  That's it!  With about 5 minutes of hands-on time, this quick & easy Toffee Sauce recipe and tasty cheesecake dessert is done.

When the milk chocolate toffee bits melt into the warm sugar mixture, it creates the tastiest chocolaty toffee-flecked sauce around.  It's so good, you'll be looking for all kinds of things to drizzle it on ... or perhaps foregoing the drizzle and just gobbling it up straight with a spoon.

The Toffee Sauce can be made in advance ... several days in advance, for that matter ... and stored in the refrigerator.  When it's time to enjoy it, a few seconds in the microwave warms and softens it back to it's original pour-able consistency.

Now, Sara Lee Original Cream Cheesecake is certainly delicious all on it's own, or with a few fresh berries on top ... and I don't think your friends and loved ones would complain one bit to enjoy it just as it is ...

But drizzle it with this quick & easy Toffee Sauce, too?  And oh my ... now we're talking pure dressed-up deliciousness!

Just be warned, if you're taking this easy dessert to a party or bringing one to a friend, I think you'll want to leave a second one at home to enjoy, too.

Quick & Easy Toffee Sauce Recipe
Ingredients
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. light corn syrup {such as Karo}
  • 2 T. unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c. crushed Heath Bars or Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits*
Directions
  1. Combine sugar, whipping cream, corn syrup, and butter in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, and immediately remove from the heat once it reaches a boil.
  2. Let cool for about 10 minutes. Stir in crushed Heath Bars or toffee bits.  Allow to cool slightly or chill before using.
  3. If Toffee Sauce is too stiff when ready to use, warm for a few seconds in the microwave. Spoon over cheesecake slices, or serve over sliced strawberries, raspberries, mixed berries, ice cream, or other desserts.
  4. Store leftover Toffee Sauce in a covered container in the refrigerator.

*Note:  Heath Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits can be found in the baking aisle of the grocery store, in the same area as chocolate chips.  Be sure to get the Milk Chocolate Toffee Bits, not the plain toffee bits.  The milk chocolate on the bits is needed to melt into the sauce.

Enjoy!
