Bite-Sized Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza Puffs

Want tasty little bite-sized pizzas to snack on?  Well, then you've come to the right place.  'Cause these cute little Pepperoni & Sausage Pizza Puffs are just the perfect little pizza snack!  Prepared in mini muffin tins, they're a two-bite bit of pizza snackin' fun.

And did I mention they're easy to make?

Oh, yeh ... these tasty little cuties aren't only cute and yummy, they're easy too.  Don' you just love it when that happens?

A while back, I had a group of friends over one afternoon for a 'blog tasting party' ... I made a bunch of new-to-me dishes ... and they agreed to be my 'tasting' guinea pigs and give feedback about all the dishes.  It was sooooo much fun!  {It was so much fun, we're talking about doing another one this fall.  Yay!}

Well, these Pizza Puffs were one of the 'keepers' from that day {along with Barbecue Roasted Mixed Nuts and Spiced Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies}.  It's taken me a while to get around to sharing these yummies with you because they needed just a tad more tweaking.  That tweaking is done, and I'm 100% happy with them now!  And happy to share them with you.

What my friends loved best about these Pizza Puffs was they're a great snack for the kids.  Yep, ... said their kids would gobble them up in a heartbeat.  And yep, ... they did!  I sent the leftovers home with one of my friends, and her two boys had them gone in a flash.

Perfect for after school snacking.  Late night snacking.  A party nibble.  Or even as a super fun lunchbox treat!

Serve 'em up with a little sauce on the side for dipping, and dunk away to your heart's content.  How's that for bite-sized pizza snackin' fun?

Source:  Adapted from Southern Living magazine

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 c. (about 4 oz.) cooked & crumbled turkey sausage (I use Jimmy Dean pre-cooked sausage crumbles)
  • 1/2 c. turkey pepperoni slices, cut in quarters
  • Prepared pizza or spaghetti sauce
Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Whisk in the milk and egg until just combined. Stir in the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, sausage crumbles, and pepperoni.
  2. Let the batter stand for 10 minutes, and then stir again.
  3. Spray the cups of a 24-cup miniature muffin pan with non-stick cooking spray. Spoon batter into the muffin cups, filling each cup to the top. Bake at 375 degrees for 16 to 18 minutes until puffed and golden brown on top.
  4. Serve with warmed pizza or spaghetti sauce for dipping.
Enjoy!

  13. Hi Tracey. This look awesome. Have you ever tried freezing them? I'm thinking in terms of make ahead for family get togethers and to have to pop a couple out as snack at anytime. Just wondered if maybe you had tried that. Thanks! Just found your blog and love it!

    1. Hi, Barbara! I have not tried freezing them ... but I would think it would work. Bake them, freeze them, thaw them ... then pop them back in the oven for a few minutes to warm them up. I've had success re-heating them from the refrigerator, so I say give freezing them a try!
