Fresh mango, jalapeno, cilantro, and lime combine to create fabulous flavor in this family-favorite Mango Salsa recipe.

We do think using fresh mango is best, but you can substitute chopped jarred or canned mango for ease of prep if you'd like. Look for jarred mango in the produce section of the grocery store, or canned mango alongside the typical other canned fruits. If using canned mango, choose one that's not sweetened or packed in syrup if you can.

Then grab those tortilla chips and dip in! Because Mango Salsa is super tasty straight-up with chips for dipping, or perfect spooned over grilled chicken, fish, or pork tenderloin dishes, too.

Mango Salsa Ingredients:

It takes just 7 ingredients to make this tasty Mango Salsa. To whip up a bowl, you'll need:

  • Mangoes - The sweet base of the salsa. This recipe needs about 2-3 fresh ripe mangoes, peeled and cubed. While we do think fresh mango is best, you can substitute chopped jarred or canned mango for ease of prep. Look for jarred mango in the produce section of the grocery store, or canned mango alongside the typical other canned fruits. If using canned mango, choose one that's not sweetened or packed in syrup if you can.

  • Green onions - Brings aromatic flavor to the salsa. Use about 1 cup of chopped fresh green onions.

  • Fresh cilantro - A classic salsa ingredient that brings amazing flavor. Use about 1/2 cup chopped, or a little more or less to suit your personal taste.

  • Fresh jalapeno - Delivers flavor and a hint of heat to the mango salsa. Use about 3 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh jalapeno, with the seeds and white pith removed. Jalapeno seeds and the white pith surrounding them carry the jalapeno's heat and impact the spiciness of the finished Mango Salsa. We recommend removing all the seeds and pith, however, leave some in if you'd like a spicier salsa.

  • Fresh lime juice - Wakes up the flavors of the salsa and combines beautifully with the sweetness of the mango. We do not recommend substituting jarred lime juice for fresh.

  • Granulated sugar - A small touch of sugar (about 1 teaspoon) rounds out the salsa's flavors.

  • Salt - Brightens and enhances the flavor of the salsa. Just a little, about 1/2 teaspoon, is all you need.

How to Make Mango Salsa:

Mango Salsa is pretty easy to make. -- Just some chopping, a little lime squeezing, and some stirring is all it takes to whip up a bowl.

Get started by peeling and chopping some fresh mangos into cubes. You want a medium-sized dice so the mango still has some texture to it, but isn't in big chunks.  If using jarred or canned mango, chop it up if it isn't already diced.

Place the chopped mango in a bowl and add in chopped green onions and cilantro, finely chopped fresh jalapeno, fresh lime juice, and a small bit of sugar and salt. Toss the ingredients together until well combined.

Then cover and chill the mango salsa for about 30 minutes before serving.
