I'm all about easy sweet treats for Christmas.

And it truly doesn't get much easier than these White Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Rods.  Melt, dip, sprinkle, and let set -- That's really about all there is to it to make this tasty treat.  In fact, these aren't just easy.  I'd go so far as to place them in the "SUPER easy" category.

Needing just four simple ingredients to pull together, you can have a batch of these whipped up in a flash.

Melt, dip, sprinkle, and let set -- That's really about all there is to it to make this tasty treat.

It took my 10-year-old daughter and I all of about 30 minutes to make a batch of 24 dipped pretzels.  And truthfully, you could probably do it even faster without a little helper!  I adore cooking with my daughter, but doing so does tend to slow the process a bit, if you know what I mean.

Package a few pretzels up in pretzel treat bags to make festively tasty little gifts from the kitchen, or store in an airtight container for nibbling for yourself. Either way, they're one delicious pepperminty Christmas treat!

White Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Rods Ingredients

Whip up a batch of these tasty candy cane pretzels with just 4 simple ingredients.  To get dipping, you'll need:

  • Pretzel rods - Use one 12-ounce bag for this recipe.

  • Shortening (such as Crisco) - Adding just a small touch of shortening -- 2 teaspoons, -- to the white chocolate thins it a bit, makes it easier to work with, and creates a nice smooth coating on the finished pretzels.

  • Candy canes - I use mini candy canes because it's so easy to just crush them right in their wrappers, and then cut open the wrapper with scissors and pour the crushed pieces into a bowl. You'll need about 15 mini candy canes for this recipe.

How to Make White Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Rods

Making White Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzels is really easy, and you can whip through a batch pretty fast.  Just melt, dip, sprinkle, and let set -- that's about it.

To get started, begin by crushing some candy canes.

For maximum candy cane coverage and a nice finished look, I recommend crushing the candy canes into two different sizes -- Some crushed coarsely and some crushed finely.

The coarsely crushed candy canes give a nice crunch of peppermint. The finely crushed ones fill in the gaps between the larger pieces when sprinkled on and give a nice finished look.

Next, melt the white chocolate coating in a deep narrow bowl according to its package directions.

For more peppermint flavor, you can add about 3 drops of peppermint extract to the white chocolate coating if you'd like -- keep in mind with peppermint extract, a little goes a long way.  Stir the peppermint extract into the coating after it's completely melted.

Dip about 2/3 of each pretzel rod into the white chocolate coating, allowing any excess to run off back into the bowl. Then place the dipped pretzel on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper.

Immediately sprinkle the dipped pretzel with coarsely crushed candy canes, and then with some finely crushed candy cane.

Repeat with the remaining pretzels, and allow to stand until the white chocolate coating is fully set.  Then store in an airtight container for up to about a week.

And that's all there is to it to whip up a batch of these little peppermint beauties!

So if you're looking for a super easy Christmas sweet treat, give these White Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzels Rods a try.  With just 4 simple ingredients, they truly do come together in a flash.

Package a few up to make festive little gifts from the kitchen, or store in an airtight container for nibbling for yourself. Either way, they're one tasty little peppermint Christmas treat!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Cover a cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper. Set aside.
  2. Coarsely crush 10 candy canes and place in a small bowl. Finely crush remaining 5 candy canes and place in a separate small bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a small deep bowl, melt candy melts (or almond bark coating) and shortening together in the microwave per candy melt package directions (typically in 30 second intervals, stirring in between).
  4. Dip about 2/3 of a pretzel rod into white chocolate, allowing excess to drip off back into the bowl.
  5. Place on prepared cookie sheet. Immediately sprinkle with coarsely crushed candy cane, and then with finely crushed candy cane.
  6. Let stand to allow white chocolate coating to set.
  7. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
TRACEY'S NOTES:
  1. Crushing the candy canes in two sizes helps ensure nice coverage on the dipped pretzel rods. The coarsely crushed candy canes give a nice crunch of peppermint. The finely crushed ones fill in the gaps between the larger pieces and give a nice finished look.
  2. I usually use Make 'n Mold candy wafers, available at most craft stores. Or, Plymouth Pantry brand vanilla flavored almond bark coating, available in the baking aisle of most grocery stores.
  3. For more peppermint flavor, add about 3 drops of peppermint extract to the white chocolate coating -- with peppermint extract, a little goes a long way.  Stir the peppermint extract into the coating after it's melted.
