Are you familiar with this totally yummy confectioners' sugar-coated stuff?  Do you call it Yuppy Chow?  Or Puppy Chow?  Or White Trash?  Or Muddy Buddies??

Yes, I've heard this concoction referred to as many different things.  But one thing's for sure ... no matter what you call it, it's just plain good.

Our family was first introduced to Puppy Chow many years ago when my brother's mother-in-law started sharing her batch with us at Christmas time.  She'd make a huge batch, and bring over a big ziploc bag full for my Dad.  And oh, how Dad loved ... and still loves ... it.  I do believe it may be his favorite Christmas treat.

He, of course, shared with the rest of us ... and our entire family's love for the stuff was born.

But it's not only Puppy Chow's addictively delicious great taste I love.  It's also the fact that the recipe makes a huge batch that's just perfect for sharing.  It can easily be divided up into baggies for holiday {or anytime} gifts ... or packaged in small containers or bags as party favors for any occasion.

Another Puppy Chow bonus?  It can be frozen!

Which makes it such a convenient sweet treat.  Simply pop it in the freezer for make-way-ahead convenience, or just to dole it out in little bits as your Puppy Chow cravings hit.  {Because if you're like me, leaving it right out-and-about makes it disappear waaaayyyy too quickly.}

Whipping up a batch is really easy, too.  The confectioners's sugar coating can be a teeny bit messy ... but a paper grocery bag helps with that, for sure.

Start by melting together chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter, and butter until it's all well combined.  Then pour the warm chocolate over a mixture of Crispix cereal, pretzel twists, and peanuts ...

Mix it all up ... gently, so as not to crush the cereal into bits ... until everything is well coated with the chocolate ...

Finally, pour the coated cereal and pretzels mixture into a clean grocery bag.  Pour in the confectioners' sugar on top, roll up the top of the bag real good, and shake.  Then shake again.  And shake a little bit more ... making sure all the pieces get well coated in sugar.

How to Make Puppy Chow

Store Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature, or in the freezer for longer-term keeping.

When those Puppy Chow cravings hit?  Dig right in and grab yourself a big old handful ... or cupful ... or bowlful ... to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Oh, and there's certainly enough to share away if you'd like!  But hey, there's no rule that says you have to.
