Oh, wait ... I got so excited talking about popcorn I almost forgot I have another wonderful Valentine treat to share with you today ~ my Chocolate Covered Cherry Martinis!

A few weeks ago I was messin' around making chocolate martinis {like the Hot Chocolate Martini I shared a bit ago} and got inspired to mix up different variations.  I've decided I may like messin' with cocktails almost as much as I like baking!

Seriously, it was totally fun making all kinds of different cocktails.

And drinking them wasn't all that bad either.  {big grin}

Maybe I should have been a bartender!

Anyway, this Chocolate Covered Cherry version was absolutely delicious!  And is just perfect for sharin' during the Valentine season.

I dropped a maraschino cherry in the bottom of each glass, mixed up a totally tasty chocolate martini mixture ... complete with a touch of chocolate syrup ... and then added some maraschino cherry juice {from the cherry jar} to each glass.

The cherry juice gave a fabulous cherry flavor, and sunk down to the bottom of the glass ... creating a pretty little band of cherry-red at the bottom.  See?

Probably no surprise where the name Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini came from, huh??

To add an extra special touch to this cocktail, I coated the rims of my glasses with sugar and grated chocolate.  Total yum.

Oh, and guess what?

Tastebuds Popcorn has a popcorn flavor that matches these martinis!  Of course they do.

Mmmm hmmmm ... Cherry Cordial popcorn.

Cherry coated popcorn drizzled with white and dark chocolate.  O. M. G.

So, have I got your mouth watering for Valentine flavors yet?  I hope so!

'Cause I know my mouth sure is watering.

Hmmm, I may just have to go grab a handful of Cherry Cordial popcorn or mix up a Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini to get it to stop.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini
Source:  A Tracey original

Makes 2 martinis {just perfect for sharing!}

Ingredients
  • 3 oz. vanilla vodka
  • 3 oz. amaretto
  • 3 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream
  • 3 oz. Kahlua
  • 3 oz. chocolate syrup
  • 4 tsp. maraschino cherry juice {from a jar of maraschino cherries}
  • 2 maraschino cherries {plus more for garnish, if desired}
Directions
  1. Chill two martini glasses in the freezer for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from freezer and drop a maraschino cherry in the bottom of each glass.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add vanilla vodka, amaretto, Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua, and chocolate syrup; shake for about 30 to 45 seconds. Pour into prepared glasses.
  3. Add 2 teaspoons of maraschino cherry juice to each glass. Garnish with a cocktail pick with additional cherries, if desired.
Note:  A sugared rim with chocolate shavings adds an extra special touch to these martinis.  Simply mix a small amount of grated chocolate and granulated sugar in a shallow bowl or plate.  Moisten the rim of each glass with water and dip in the chocolate/sugar mixture to coat.  Set aside until you're ready to pour in your martinis.

Enjoy!
