Turtle Cocktail Ingredients:
A fun mix of flavors and liqueurs come together to create a tasty Turtle Cocktail. To whip one up, you'll need:
- Chocolate syrup + caramel syrup - Used to drizzle inside the Turtle Cocktail's glass, these syrups bring chocolate and caramel flavors to the drink, as well as create pretty designs in the glass. We recommend using Hershey's chocolate and caramel syrups in squeeze bottles for ease.
- Pecan whiskey - Provides the nutty-flavor foundation of the Turtle Cocktail. Available at the liquor store, we use Revel Stoke brand pecan whiskey. If you can't find pecan whiskey, you can use about 1/2 teaspoon almond extract instead, however the cocktail's flavor is way better when made with pecan whiskey.
- Bailey's Irish Cream - A thick, rich, and sweet liqueur that brings notes of vanilla and chocolate to the cocktail while also adding sweetness.
- Kahlua - A slightly-sweet coffee flavored liqueur that brings richness and slight hints of caramel to the drink.
- Creme de Cacao (optional) - This chocolate flavored liqueur is optional, but does enhance the chocolate flavor of the Turtle Cocktail. If including, you can use either clear or brown Creme de Cacao.
- Milk or almond milk - Enhances the creaminess of the cocktail. Use your preference of whole milk, 2% milk, skim milk, or almond milk. They all work just fine.
- Whipped cream + chocolate shavings + chopped pecans - Used to beautifully and flavorfully garnish the cocktail. We use Reddi-wip squirt whipped cream, Dove dark chocolate, and very finely chopped pecans.
How to Make a Delicious Turtle Cocktail:
Fortunately for us, a tasty little Turtle Cocktail is super easy to make.
To get one started, first drizzle the inside of a martini glass with a little bit of chocolate syrup and caramel syrup. Drizzle each syrup around the inside rim of the glass, then set the glass aside to allow the syrups to drip down the sides into the glass.
Mix up the Turtle Cocktail itself by combining some Bailey's Irish Cream, Kahlua, pecan whiskey, milk, and Creme de Cacao (optional) in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake the mixture for about 15 seconds until it's well chilled.
Then pour the mixture into the prepared glass.
To finish the Turtle Cocktail off, top it with a squirt of whipped cream, a sprinkle of chocolate shavings, and some finely chopped pecans. And then you're ready to enjoy!
Serve up these tasty beauties for anytime sipping, a holiday party treat, or as a fun dessert drink. But rest assured no matter when you enjoy them, Turtle Cocktails are one very delicious cocktail treat.
