Looking for adorable yet simple ideas for your upcoming fall and Halloween celebrations? These easy Mason Jar Orange Slice Pumpkin Toppers have got you covered on both accounts!
With their cute little pumpkin-esque orange slice floating atop a festive orange drink, they've certainly got adorable covered.
And when it comes to being simple? They've sure got that covered, too. All you need to pull these off are Ball Mason jars, oranges, and some green candies to create a pumpkin stem.
Orange soda will do to fill the jars themselves and create the pumpkin "body," but we've paired these toppers with our easy 2-ingredient Orange Creamsicle drink for a little more (but still super easy) flair. Want to get a little fancier with the orange drink? -- Our Orange Creamsicle Shirley Temple would work great, too.
But no matter what drink you put inside, these pumpkin toppers are just plain fun!
Let's take a look at just how easy it is to make them.

These Orange Slice Pumpkin Topper Mason jar drinks are so stinkin' cute! And, they're so stinkin' easy, too.
Let's take a look at just how easy it is to make them.
What you'll need:
- Wide mouth pint (16 oz.) Ball Mason jars
- Medium- to small-sized oranges
- Green gummy candy (such as Ring Pop Gummies or sour candy belts) OR lime peel slices
- Orange soda
- Cream soda (if making the Orange Creamsicle drink)
Other optional items to add to the adorableness:
- Green straws
- Jack-o-lantern faces printed out on paper + Scotch tape
- Jack-o-lantern face stickers (or click this link for a wider selection - just be sure to choose stickers for small Jack-o-lantern faces)
Now let's go step-by-step on how to make Mason Jar Orange Slice Pumpkin Toppers, and take a look at two different options for adding Jack-o-lantern faces to the jars. They truly are super easy!
To make a pumpkin topper and drink, start with a wide mouth pint (16 oz.) Ball Mason jar.
The wide mouth is very important - it's the only type of Mason jar that can accommodate the width of the orange slice. Regular-mouth Mason jars won't work. (Well, maybe if you used a small tangerine or cutie slice? That might work with a regular Mason jar, but full disclosure - we didn't try it.)
We used these Ring Pop Gummies chains that are kind of like little candy charms on a candy charm bracelet. But any green gummy candy - especially Ring Pop Gummies that are very similar to what we used - will work.
Stick one green piece into the center of an orange slice, pushing it down into the orange so it stands up like a stem.
Then set the topper aside while you get the drink ready.
Making the Orange Creamsicle drink that creates the pumpkin "body" is super easy, too.
Just stick a green gummy candy piece into the center of an orange slice, pushing it down into the orange so it stands up like a stem.
Then pick up the prepared orange slice pumpkin topper. Gently place and float the topper on top of the Mason jar drink. And there you have it! - One super easy, super tasty orange creamsicle Halloween Mason jar drink!
Serve it up immediately while the sodas are nice and fizzy & enjoy!
Now, what if you want a cute little Jack-o-lantern face on your Mason jar Halloween drink?
The second way to add a face to your Halloween Mason jar drinks is to use Jack-o-lantern face stickers.
I think the sticker faces are extra-adorable, and are certainly super easy to use. Simply place the stickers on the jar and rub over them well with your finger to make sure they are secure.
Okay, now let's talk about straws for a second.
Because if your orange slice is perfectly sized for the Mason jar and completely covers the top of the drink, inserting a straw can be a little tricky.
The answer to the tricky straw problem? -- Insert the straw through the orange slice before you float it on top of the drink.
If you're putting a Jack-o-lantern face on the jar, be sure to add the face before you pour in the drink.
Yes, if you plan to use a straw with the drink, make a small slit through the orange flesh when you prepare the orange slice pumpkin topper to form a spot to insert the straw. Then, position the straw through the orange slice before floating it on the drink. (Oh, and we think these are extra adorable with green straws.)
If your orange slice is smaller and doesn't completely cover the top of the drink, you can more easily slip a straw into the drink between the edge of the orange slice and the edge of the jar - no real need to insert through the orange slice like we recommend with the larger orange slices.
We've got two ideas for how to make adorable little Jack-o-lantern faces on the Mason jars -- and both ways are really easy. Just be sure to add the face before you pour in the drink.
The first way is to simply print out Jack-o-lantern faces on paper. Then cut out the face pieces and tape them onto the Mason jar with clear Scotch tape.
I think the sticker faces are extra-adorable, and are certainly super easy to use. Simply place the stickers on the jar and rub over them well with your finger to make sure they are secure.
And that's it! That's all there is to it to create these fun and festive Orange Slice Pumpkin Topper Mason Jar Drinks -- truly super easy. And truly super cute.
So whether you enjoy them faceless, with cut-out Jack-o-lanterns or Jack-o-lantern face stickers, with plain orange soda, or with our tasty 2-ingredient Orange Creamsicle drink, one thing's for sure -- these pumpkin topper drinks are just plain fun.
Enjoy!

How to cook Orange Slice Pumpkin Toppers for Mason Jar Halloween Drinks
Make the orange slice pumpkin topper:
- Cut the green gummy candy or lime peel slice into small pieces, approximately 1/2-inch long, to look like a stem.
- Stick one green piece into the center of an orange slice, pushing it down into the orange so it stands up like a stem.
- If you'll be using a straw for the drink, make a small slit through the orange flesh to form a spot to insert the straw.
Prepare the orange creamsicle drink:
- If desired, place a few ice cubes in a Mason jar.
- Pour in about 3/4 to 1 cup orange soda and about 3/4 to 1 cup cream soda. Give the mixture a gentle stir.
- Pick up the prepared orange slice pumpkin topper. If using a straw, insert the straw through the slit previously cut. Gently place and float the topper on top of the Mason jar drink.
- Serve immediately & enjoy!
TRACEY'S NOTES
- If you're putting Jack-o-lantern faces on the Mason jars, put them on before pouring the drink into the jar.
- For printed out paper Jack-o-lantern faces: Cut out the face pieces and tape them onto the Mason jar with clear Scotch tape.
- For sticker Jack-o-lantern faces: Place the stickers on the jar and rub over them well with your finger to make sure they are secure.
- Buy oranges that are on the small side to make your pumpkin topper orange slices. Those huge oranges just won't work for this!
- If your orange slice completely covers the top of the drink, it's really tricky to place a straw into the drink once the pumpkin topper is floating. Position the straw through the orange slice before floating it on the drink. If your orange slice is smaller and doesn't completely cover the top of the drink, you can more easily slip a straw into the drink between the edge of the orange slice and the edge of the jar - no real need to insert THROUGH the orange slice.
