When good-ol' Southern bourbon pairs up with the maple sweetness of Vermont's liquid gold? -- It's magic in a glass.
Now when it comes to cocktails, what could be more Southern than bourbon? Okay, perhaps moonshine ... but bourbon is certainly right up there as a quintessential Southern drink.

A good squeeze of fresh lemon juice beautifully rounds out this cocktail's flavor, adding a nice zing to it.
When making your cocktail, add fresh lemon juice to suit your personal taste.
When it comes to the maple syrup for this Bourbon Maple Leaf cocktail, be sure to use real, pure maple syrup.
I prefer this drink with about 1/4 ounce of lemon juice, which lets the maple flavor shine through more fully. My husband prefers it with a little more lemon. I recommend not omitting the lemon juice altogether though, as it balances out and adds a nice freshness to the drink.
Finally, a pinch of cinnamon makes this cocktail just perfect for Fall sipping. But do be warned ~ being about 2/3 straight bourbon, this is indeed one stiff drink!
So if you're like me and love both bourbon and pure maple syrup, give them a whirl together in this tasty Bourbon Maple Leaf Cocktail. It sure brings together two of my all-time favorites in a wonderful way!

DeleteAwesome cocktail - especially as the weather cools in the northeast. I split the difference of the lemon preference and used about 1/3 oz. Added one large ice cube and enjoyed this warming drink. Yum! Thanks!
