Your Top 10 of 2012 {Most Viewed Recipes of the Year - Playground Round-Up}

December 27, 2012

Well, the Christmas season has come and gone.  I spent some wonderful time with my family, relaxed, and ate waaaaaaayyy too much.  Now it's time to turn an eye toward healthier eating to make up for all that sugar I ate during the holidays!

It's also time to turn an eye toward the favorite posts of 2012 on The Kitchen is My Playground.  I have so much fun going back through the posts of the year to see which ones you've all liked best.  It's such a nice little trip down memory lane.  Just like 2011's favorites, you all made some great picks.

And so,  here they are! ...

YOUR top 10 of 2012, as 'voted' on by your clicks.

1.  Insanely Delicious Turtle Cookies - Ooohhhhhhh, these cookies are sooooooooo worthy of the top spot for the year!  I seriously think these are the best cookies ever.  Apparently, you all did too.

2.  No-Bake Chocolate Eclair Dessert - Mmmmmmm.  A family absolute favorite.  Creamy comfort in a {no-bake} pan.

3.  Classic Oreo Icebox Dessert - Another great no-bake dessert.  And who can resist an Oreo???  Well, how about an Oreo covered in chocolate pudding and topped with whipped cream? ... Even better!

4.  Pizza Spaghetti Bake - A great easy-to-pull-together weeknight meal.  And it combines two flavor favorites ... spaghetti and pizza.  Yum.

5.  Brown Sugar Baked Peaches - A healthier sweet treat ... at just about 100 calories per peach.  But believe me, you certainly don't feel like you're eating a just-100-calorie dessert!

6.  Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn - Such a sweet memory comes along with this one ... hosting a double baby shower for my friends Jenny and Andrea and their sweet little boys {who are now about 7 months old}.

7.  Baby Shower White Chocolate-Dipped Rice Krispie Treats - Another sweet baby shower memory ... these treats were made for the baby shower my little 1st graders asked to give my friend Andrea, their 'other teacher.'

8.  Pineapple Upside-Down Cupcakes - Made these for my Mom's birthday this year.  She loved them!

9.  German Chocolate Cupcakes - Sooooo good.  Love that ooey-gooey coconut-pecan topping.

10.  7 Layer Cookies - A classic made by Mark's Mom ... these are always on her Christmas day cookie tray.

So what do you think?  Are you happy with your top 10?  I am!  I think you all have great taste.  But ...

... I couldn't stop at just the top 10 ... 'cause, well, the difference between the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th spots was soooooooo close.  Like, seriously, only about 200 'clicks' separated these four items.  So I decided to include three 'extras' as Honorable Mentions.  Oh, and not to mention, the next three just so happen to be three of my personal all-time absolute favorites!

You don't mind?  Oh, good.  I didn't think you would.

Honorable Mentions:

11.  Hot Corn Dip - Hot as in 'warm,' and hot as in 'spicy.'  But not too spicy.  Just-right spicy.  And so good.

12.  Curried Chicken Salad - A no-mayo, very flavorful chicken salad that's one of my favorite take-to-school lunches.

13.  Baked Jalapeno Poppers - All the delicious flavor and heat of traditional jalapeno poppers, minus the deep-fried guilt.

Thank you so much for being a reader of The Kitchen is My Playground.  I truly appreciate you and the time you take to visit my little piece of blogland.  Happy New Year to you!!
