Need a super easy, but fun and festive party treat? Look no further! Simply dip Rice Krispie treats in chocolate and decorate with sprinkles, like with these adorable Baby Shower White Chocolate-Dipped Rice Krispie Treats.
My little first graders are so sweet.
See, my friend Andrea ... who just so happens to also be my classroom instructional assistant ... is expecting her first child soon. A little boy, to be exact. And guess what our incredibly amazing little firsties did?
They asked me if we could throw her a baby shower! How adorably sweet is that? Of course I said yes. How could I not?
So onto planning a secret baby shower we went. But, here was my major dilemma. What on Earth to serve as our treat?
Something homemade? - Nope. Against school policy.
With a little dip of white chocolate and a tiny drizzling of blue, these little beauties became the perfect treat for a first grade boy-to-be baby shower.
Cake? Cupcakes? - Nope. Again, against school policy. Parents aren't allowed to bring or send in cupcakes or cake for birthdays or special treats, so we teachers have to abide by the same rule.
Those cute little beautifully-iced sugar cookies from our local bakery? - A possibility. But at $3 per cookie, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Especially when I knew that several of my first grade friends would take just one bite and toss the rest in the trash.
One of those giant decorated chocolate chip cookies? - Oh, just not quite cute enough.
What was I going to do? What was baby-shower-cute, but also suited to the first grade pallet?
Then I had the perfect idea ... Rice Krispie Treats!
Because every first grader loves Rice Krispie Treats.
I decided to take the route of embellishing store-bought Rice Krispie Treats. With a little dip of white chocolate and a tiny drizzling of blue, these little beauties became the perfect treat for a first grade boy-to-be baby shower. Don't you think?
I stacked them up on a cake stand to look like a big ol' cake ...
... and set the cake stand alongside cups of blue punch. Looks pretty good for a classroom baby shower, I think.
The non-pareils sprinkles add just a touch of decorative texture that make these treats look extra special.
On the big day, we truly shocked Andrea with a complete surprise. I'm so proud of our little ones, and they loved being able to celebrate this very special time. So adorably sweet.
Now, onto how to make these little baby shower Rice Krispie Treats.
All I did was unwrap store-bought Rice Krispie Treats and give them a little dunk in white chocolate - like this:
Then I sprinkled on a few white non-pareils and set the dipped treats aside to set up.
The non-pareils sprinkles add just a touch of decorative texture that make these treats look extra special.
Next, I drizzled on some blue accents to make them boy-ish. {But you could certainly do any color to match different occasions.}
I let the blue accents set up, and then they were ready for the celebration!
And believe me, they certainly received the first grader seal of approval.

ReplyDeleteWow, you took something very simple and made it look like an expensive dessert. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou did such a fabulous job with these. I'm in the midst of doing a shower and it's crazy how much detail you end up putting into it. I'd love for you to share these at Whimsy Wednesdays at www.thenymelrosefamily.blogspot.com/2012/03/whimsy-wednesdays-3.html. We go live Tuesday night at 8 EST. I'm following via bloglovin, gfc and lf.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! After you dipped them did you have to put them in the refrigerator?
ReplyDeleteI did not put them in the refrigerator after I dipped them, but you certainly could for just a few minutes to set the chocolate. Enjoy!
Deletehow many did this recipie make? I am hosting a shower for almost 100 and dont know the quantities of krispy bars to the choclate you purchased. Thanks!
DeleteThe package of Krispie Treats I bought had 18 bars in it. I believe I was able to do 2 boxes with the 1 lb. of white chocolate coating. It'll depend a bit on how thick you make your coating on the Krispie Treats. But plan on approximately 30-35 bars per pound of coating. Hope that helps!
DeleteAwesome recipe! I am going to make these for my cousin's shower this Saturday. I do have a question though, did you cut the bars in half or leave them the size they came? Also, have you ever tried this recipe making homemade rice krispie treats?
ReplyDeleteHey there! I left the store-bought Krispie Treats the size they came. I have never tried this with homemade krispie treats, but I see no reason it wouldn't work. I HAD to do store-bought since I was bringing them for my students ... it's the rule that there be no homemade foods brought in. Have fun at your cousin's shower!!
DeleteWhat a cute idea! These so yummy and pretty
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I'm going to make pink treats and add them to our bake sale fundraiser for our Breast Cancer Walk.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea but how far in advance can I make them? And ho do I store the them? If I make them friday night for a party on Sunday, will they survive? Or will they get stale?
ReplyDeleteYou can make them several days in advance. Just place them on waxed paper laid out on a baking sheet as you dip them in the white chocolate ... then pop the whole baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to make sure the chocolate is completely set. Then you can store the treats at room temperature in an airtight container until the party. Making them Friday night for a Sunday party will be totally fine! Enjoy!!
DeleteI would like the recipe for the chocolate dip rice crisps pops. Cant find that one
ReplyDeleteHow much candy melt is needed for one recipe? Is there any left over?
ReplyDeleteLooks good! And looks delicious too. Thank you for the recipe. I will try this one out.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable way to dress up plain ole Rice Krispy treats! Thanks for sharing with us at Weekend Potluck.
ReplyDeleteRice Krispies are always a nice treat and delicious too! Thank you for sharing such a nice recipe.
ReplyDeleteBut candy melt isn't chocolate :/
