5-Cheese Stovetop Macaroni and Cheese {from "In the Kitchen with David®"}

Five yummy cheeses and just fifteen minutes on the stove top, and you've got scrumptiously creamy comfort in this 5-Cheese, Fifteen Minute Mac'n' Cheese from the new Back Around the Table: An "In the Kitchen with David" Cookbook. Thank you so much to QVC's resident foodie, David Venable, and his new cookbook for sharing the recipe and sponsoring this post.

Nothing says comfort like good ol' macaroni and cheese. It's my all-time absolute favorite comfort food dish, for sure. Growing up, I loved when Mom would make a huge pan of her totally yummy baked macaroni and cheese, full of flavor and oozing with gooey melty cheese.

But when delicious creamy macaroni and cheese can be made in 15 minutes on the stove top? Even better!

And when it includes a tasty combination of 5 cheeses ... and bacon?? Oh my. Comfort food at its finest. If this sounds great to you ... like it sure does to me ... you're going to want to check out the new Back Around the Table: An "In the Kitchen with David" Cookbook.

The second book from QVC's resident foodie, David Venable, Back Around the Table: An "In the Kitchen with David" Cookbook includes more than 100 recipes, all featuring David's personal spin on traditional comfort food favorites.

Like loading up mac 'n' cheese with five different cheeses. Five! That's a yummy boat load of cheese.

With eleven chapters of comfort food favorites, you're sure to find something you love that has everyone running to gather back around the table.

Some of my personal favorites I can't wait to try include David's Warm Bacon-Cheese Dip from the 'Mix & Mingle' chapter ... Eggs Benedict Bread Pudding from the 'Brunch & Beyond' chapter ... Guinness Beef Stew from the 'Low & Slow' chapter ... and White Chocolate Pumpkin Pie from the 'Sweets & Treats' chapter. Just to name a few.

I love how creamy the 5-Cheese Stovetop Mac 'n' Cheese came out ...

... and a little trick of stirring in just a tiny touch of sour cream at the end of it's cooking brought out its extra-creaminess. Genius, David. Genius.

But even better was the recommendation to add some 'divine swine,' to quote David, to the finished dish.

Macaroni and cheese with 5 cheeses, in just 15 minutes on the stove top, made extra creamy with a touch of sour cream ... and topped with crumbled bacon. Divine, indeed.

I'm looking forward to trying out some of David's other recipes from the cookbook, and I think you'd look forward to them, too.  Now pardon me ... I've got to get back to this plateful of mac 'n cheese.

3 T. unsalted butter
2 T. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. dry mustard
2 c. heavy cream, warmed
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded smoked Gouda
1/2 c. (2 oz.) shredded Gruyere
1/4 c. (1 oz.) shredded Asiago
1 c. (4 oz.) shredded yellow extra-sharp Cheddar

Melt the butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the flour and mustard and stir with a wooden spoon or whisk until a thick paste forms, 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the cream and bring mixture to a simmer, stirring until the sauce becomes thick. Add the Gouda, Gruyere, Asiago, yellow Cheddar, and white Cheddar, stirring the cheeses until melted and the sauce is smooth. Add the cooked pasta and stir well to combine.
