The Garlic Bread That Almost Ended My Marriage Before It Began

February 23, 2014
Mom's Garlic Bread is the perfect accompaniment to a hearty pasta meal.  This easy thick-cut garlic bread is crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and oh so delicious!

This is my Mom's 'famous' garlic bread.  And it almost ended my marriage before it began.  Seriously.  And it all goes back to the very first meal I cooked for my now-hubby Mark back in January, 2003, when we had just started dating ...

Happy Valentine's Day!  Or, as I like to think of it, Happy Chocolate Day!  And nothing says pure chocolate decadence like a chocolate martini.

With chocolate being one of our favorite flavors in desserts, how can we go wrong with it in a drink?  Personally, I don't think we can.

Pink Funfetti Pound Cake

February 10, 2014
This pretty-in-Pink Funfetti Pound Cake gets its pink color from sanding sugar sprinkles instead of food coloring, and then gets even prettier with confetti sprinkles folded in the batter!

I'm always full of what I call 'I wonders.'  As in like, 'I wonder what would happen if I put ____ in this ______.'  Or like, 'I wonder how it would taste if I combined ______ and ______.'  I guess that's why I like cooking and recipe development so much.  I get to constantly test out my 'I wonders.'

I get to test out 'I wonders' in my classroom, too.  Like when my little 2nd graders and I were doing science experiments with solids, liquids, and gases this week and we were creating a gas with vinegar and baking soda ... then watching the gas created blow up a balloon.  And I had an 'I wonder' about whether or not all liquids and baking soda create a gas when they combine ... so I asked them to come up with a plan for how we could test that out.

Valentines White Chocolate-Dipped Pretzel Rods

February 6, 2014
Beautiful Valentines White Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Rods deliver sweet and salty deliciousness in a pretty little blinged-out package.  And they're so easy to make!  What more could you ask for?

One of my absolute, absolute favorite flavors is the combination of salty and sweet.  And one of my absolute favorite ways to deliver that wonderful salty/sweet combination to my taste buds is with chocolate covered pretzels.  Or yogurt covered pretzels.  Or white chocolate covered pretzels.  Okay, or pretty much anything sweet-covered pretzels.

And it's an added bonus when those sweet-covered pretzels are stunningly beautiful, like these pink-studded Valentine White Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels.

Chicken Breasts in Champagne Sauce

February 2, 2014
Chicken Breasts simmered in Champagne Sauce ~ it may not be one of the prettiest dishes around, but it's certainly one of the tastiest.

You know, this is one of those dishes where I just have to say ~ "Look past the photos!"  'Cause let's face it, these chicken breasts are just plain unattractive.  But I promise you, what they lack in good looks, they more than make up for in great flavor!
