Who's a lover of The Grinch?

If you said yes, I'm right there with you.  The old-time, original Grinch for me, that is.  Sure, the two newer Grinch movies are cute and all.  And are certainly each an entertaining watch.

But for me?  Nothing holds a candle to the original, complete with that ominous and booming bass voice singing that ever-classic introduction line, "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch."

Not only does the look of the cocktail fit with the Grinch Christmas theme, the characteristic peppermint flavor from its green creme de menthe base fits right in with the season, too.

Both the song and the original cartoon movie hold such fond childhood Christmas memories for me.  It was a tradition to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" each and every year at least once, if not multiple times.  And it's a tradition I still continue now in my adulthood.

Somehow, it's just not Christmas without watching that vile and resentful Grinch and his adorable little dog, Max, ultimately end up filled with the Christmas spirit.

So one day last summer when I was sipping on a grasshopper cocktail, naturally its deep green hue made me think of my beloved favorite Christmas character, The Grinch.  And then I thought to myself, "Hey, with just a little simple embellishment, a grasshopper could be a super cute Grinch cocktail!"

And that's exactly how this fun and festive Grinch Grasshopper Cocktail was born.

Truly, all it takes to turn a basic grasshopper cocktail into a perfect-for-Christmas Grinch Grasshopper Cocktail is some red sugar sprinkles for the cocktail glass rims and large heart-shaped sprinkles to float on top.

Cute and easy idea, don't you think?

It's a perfect cocktail for any Christmas event, and especially for sipping while you watch and wait for The Grinch's heart to fill with the Christmas spirit.

Not only does the look of the cocktail fit with the Grinch Christmas theme, the characteristic peppermint flavor derived from its green creme de menthe base fits right in with the season, too.

To make a batch of Grinch Grasshopper Cocktails, start by adorning the rims of some martini glasses with red sugar sprinkles ...

The easiest way to do this is to place some red sugar sprinkles in a shallow bowl or plate.

Then working with one glass at a time, moisten the rim of a martini glass with water and dip it in the red sugar sprinkles to coat.  Once all the rims are coated, set the prepared glasses aside until you're ready to pour in your Grinch grasshopper cocktail mixture.

In a cocktail shaker, combine some green creme de menthe, clear crème de cacao, and a bit of half-and-half with some ice.

Shake everything together for about 30 seconds and then pour the grasshopper mixture into the prepared cocktail glasses ...

Then take some large red heart-shaped sprinkles ...

And float one on top of each cocktail ...

Just to see what it would look like, I also tried rimming the martini glass in yellow sugar, representing The Grinch's huge yellow eyes.

While the yellow certainly looks okay ...

I do like the look of the red rims better.

So if you're a Grinch lover and would love to sip away on a fabulously minty cocktail while you wait for The Grinch's heart to fill with Christmas spirit and grow its three sizes, give this Grinch Grasshopper Cocktail a try.

It's a super cute ... and super easy ... Grinch cocktail, for sure.

And hey, if The Grinch had had a batch of these tasty drinks to enjoy, perhaps he wouldn't have been so Grinch-y to start with!
