Sprinkles are just plain fun, don't you think?

Whether they're baked into treats like our pink funfetti pound cake and funfetti birthday cupcakes, or adorning the top of baked donuts, or totally decking out festive cookies like our chocolate Valentine Kiss cookies ... sprinkles just add that extra little touch that makes everything just that much more fun.

I mean, the sight of sprinkles sure makes it tough not to smile!  The inner kid in all of us adores sprinkles, for sure.

I bet you'll be super surprised at just how easy it is to make a sprinkles-rimmed glass.  Two ingredients and about two minutes is all you need.

But did you know sprinkles can bring extra fun to cocktails and mocktails, too?

They sure can!  By beautifully adorning the rims of our cocktail {and mocktail} glasses.

Sprinkles around the rim of a glass are a really cute and fun way to add that festive touch that tickles the fancy of the kid in all of us.

And I bet you'll be super surprised at just how easy it is to make a sprinkles-rimmed glass.  Two ingredients and about two minutes is all you need.

There are two easy methods for making a sprinkles-rimmed glass ~ the frosting method and the confectioners' sugar method.

They differ solely in what's used to adhere the sprinkles to the glass's rim.  But the method for each is exactly the same.

With the confectioners' sugar method, a little bit of confectioners' sugar and water are mixed together to coat the glass's rim ... and the sprinkles then stick to this mixture.

For the frosting method, the glass rim is dipped in either a tub of store-bought frosting or in a little bit of homemade frosting.  The sprinkles then stick to the frosting.

Pretty simple, right?

For the frosting method, if the width of the glass you're using is smaller than the top of a store-bought frosting tub, you can dip the rim of the glass straight into the frosting container, like I did here ...

If you're using a larger-sized glass, just use your finger to spread a good coating of frosting all around the glass's rim.

Once the rim of the glass is coated in frosting, immediately dip it into the sprinkles.  You want to do this dipping while the frosting {or confectioners' sugar mixture} is still really wet so the sprinkles will adhere well.

Gently kind of pick up and tap different areas of the rim into the sprinkles to make sure sprinkles stick all over the rim.

If the sprinkles won't stick well to an area, use your finger to add a little bit more frosting or sugar mixture and then dip that spot in the sprinkles again.

You want to end up with a nice, consistent sprinkles coating all around the entire rim ...

Then set the glass aside until you're ready to serve your drink.  The frosting and sprinkles will continue to set and harden on the rim as the frosting dries, adhering pretty firmly to the glass.

When pouring in your drink, do the best you can to pour the liquid directly into the center of the glass to avoid knocking sprinkles off the rim.  If liquid hits the rim, the frosting and sprinkles will kind of melt and slip off pretty quickly.

I prefer the look of the rims with the small, round non-pareil sprinkles pictured in all the photos above.

But, the rims can be made with any type of sprinkles you'd like.  Below is a photo of one made with rainbow jimmies so you can see what a jimmies-style rim looks like ...

The method works for pretty much any type of glass, too.

Here's a martini glass with a sprinkles rim so you can see what a different type of glass looks like ...

I think the martini glass is especially pretty all decked out with sprinkles.

Now once that pretty little rim is done, just pour in your favorite cocktail or mocktail to enjoy. This particular set of glasses became fabulous holders for a batch of our tasty Cake By the Ocean cocktail.

But no matter what you choose to enjoy in your pretty sprinkles-adorned glasses, enjoying a drink from them is just plain fun.  Because sprinkles just add that extra little touch that makes everything just that much more fun.

It's such a simple way to tickle the fancy of the kid in all of us.  All with just two ingredients and about two minutes.
