When I think of Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, I think of pure creamy comfort.  It's the perfect frozen cookies-and-milk combination.  I mean, it's pretty tough to find someone who doesn't love this classic ice cream flavor, right?

And when it comes to making a batch of Cookies and Cream ice cream at home, did you know you can do it with absolutely no fuss?

I just love the easy no churn method for making homemade ice cream.  It's pure and simple, requiring just three basic things.

That's right, ice cream can easily be made at home with no machine.  No churning.  And no special equipment needed at all.

I just love the easy no churn method for making homemade ice cream.  It's pure and simple, requiring just three basic things:

  1. Some homemade whipped cream
  2. A can of sweetened condensed milk
  3. A regular-old freezer.

That's it.  No joke. -- Whipping up homemade ice cream's creamy goodness is as simple as that.

To form the base for any easy no-churn ice cream, first whip some heavy cream or whipping cream (without adding any sugar) until stiff peaks form.  Then simply fold in a can of sweetened condensed milk.

And this 2-ingredient combination, my friends, forms a blank canvas on which to build an almost endless variety of ice cream flavors!  Like our favorite 3-ingredient creamy Coconut Ice Cream or Easy Chocolate Ice Cream, for example.

The sweetened condensed milk adds the ice cream's needed sugar and makes the whipped cream freeze into a nice, creamy texture.

The sweetened condensed milk adds the ice cream's needed sugar and makes the whipped cream freeze into a nice, creamy texture.  All that's needed to finish it off is a good chill in a freezer for about 4 hours.

For this Cookies and Cream version, I simply added a touch of vanilla extract, coarsely crumbled Oreos, and a tiny swirl of chocolate syrup.  Because you know, a bit of extra chocolate is never a bad thing.

Prep time: 25 MCook time: Total time: 25 M

Ingredients:

  • 2 c. whipping cream or heavy cream
  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk {about 1 cup}
  • 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
  • heaping 1 c. coarsely crumbled Oreo cookies {about 12 cookies}
  • 2 T. chocolate syrup {optional}

Instructions:

  1. Chill a large mixing bowl and the beaters of an electric mixer (or whisk attachment of a stand mixer) in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  2. Remove from the refrigerator and pour whipping cream into the chilled bowl. Beat on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  3. Gently stir in sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract until well combined. Gently fold in crumbled Oreos.
  4. Spoon into a freezer safe container. If desired, drizzle chocolate syrup in ribbons over the ice cream mixture; swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect, being careful not to really "stir" the chocolate syrup into the ice cream.
  5. Cover and freeze for about 4 hours or overnight.
