With yellow and baby blue M&M's, this fun
Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn is just perfect for a little boy
baby shower. Or, change the M&M colors to match any occasion!
As mentioned in my previous post about
Baby Shower White Chocolate-Dipped Rice Krispie Treats, my friend Andrea is expecting a baby boy soon. -- And so is my friend Jenny
(Jenny who's featured in our Salted Chocolate Cake Pops post, that is). So I recently had the honor and pleasure of co-hosting a double
baby shower for these two fabulous ladies. Such a joy, a treat, and a
blessing to be able to be involved in celebrating this special time in
both of their lives.
A play on the "She's Ready to Pop!" popcorn favors often shared at baby showers, I knew a fun and festive white chocolate popcorn was just the treat to make for my two very special friends. Speckled with blue and yellow M&Ms to give this white chocolate-coated popcorn subtle pops of baby shower color, it looked simply gorgeous for our baby boy celebration.
Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn is not just beautiful, but delicious too.
Instead of putting the popcorn in the "Ready to Pop!" favor boxes commonly used, we chose to use adorable baby blue tulip cupcake papers. -- And they worked fabulously as pretty little individual servings of popcorn.
We clustered the blue popcorn-filled cupcake papers together in groups of
three as table decorations, and they looked like beautiful baby blue tulips
adorning the room. It was just the fun and festive decorating touch we
were looking for.
We also served up a big crystal bowl full of the baby shower white chocolate
popcorn on the food table. And let me just tell you all, this popcorn was a
major hit! It's not just beautiful, but delicious too.
Change the M&Ms colors to pink and yellow for a girl baby shower. Or, the colors could be adjusted to fit with any occasion, theme, or holiday by simply changing the color of M&Ms used.
How to Make Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn:

Then melt the white chocolate coating together with a little bit of
shortening, and pour it over the popcorn.
Stir the melted white chocolate and popcorn together, sprinkling in some colored M&Ms as you go, until the popcorn is nicely and fully coated. I've found that a large spatula is great tool to gently stir around the popcorn without completely crushing it.

Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn Ingredients:
It takes just 4 ingredients to whip up this fun celebration popcorn. To
make a batch, you'll need:
- Popped popcorn - About 8 to 10 cups of popped popcorn is needed for this recipe. We recommend using 2 bags of microwave popcorn, but any plain popped popcorn will work.
- White/vanilla almond bark coating - A 24-ounce package of white/vanilla almond bark coating nicely covers the popcorn in white chocolate.
- Shortening - When melted together with the almond bark coating, shortening (such as Crisco) thins the white chocolate a bit and makes it easier to get the popcorn coated.
- M&Ms - Specialty-colored M&Ms bring the pop of color to this festive white chocolate popcorn. Order specialty/single-colored M&Ms (affiliate link) from Amazon, from the M&Ms website, some online candy stores, or local candy and party stores sometimes carry them.
How to Make Baby Shower White Chocolate Popcorn:
How do you make white chocolate popcorn for a baby shower, you ask? It's really pretty easy!
First pop up some popcorn. Then chop a block of white chocolate almond
bark coating into small pieces, which helps it melt more evenly and
easily.
Stir the melted white chocolate and popcorn together, sprinkling in some colored M&Ms as you go, until the popcorn is nicely and fully coated. I've found that a large spatula is great tool to gently stir around the popcorn without completely crushing it.
Spread the coated popcorn out on waxed paper to set. If the coating is
still a bit wet, perhaps sprinkle on a few more M&Ms. And you're
done!
Serve it up in individual containers, like these beautiful
blue cupcake papers:
Or, serve it up in an elegant crystal bowl. (Or maybe even both, like
we did.)
Either way, with baby shower white chocolate popcorn you'll have a
sure-fire hit for your special celebration. I sure can't wait to meet
the two little bundles of joy that this batch of popcorn
honored. One thing's for sure - knowing their moms, they're
already two of the luckiest little boys around.

ReplyDeleteSo yummy, thank you for the recipe. I made two batches, one as listed and a twist of raspberry on the other by adding some raspberry jello powder to bark and using the raspberry dark chocolate M & M's. Both are tasty! ~Sheila
ReplyDeleteHi, can you tell me where you got your cups? I've trying to look them up everywhere, Wilton's website, JoAnn's, PartyCity... no luck. I want to make the same ones since I am attending a baby boy shower and i think this would be a great idea. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe blue cups are Wilton brand, and I got them at Michael's craft store. I have recently seen them at a local dollar store, which leads me to believe they may have been discontinued by Wilton (though I'm not sure!). Enjoy the popcorn!!
