How to Make 5 Flavors of Snow Cream for Your Next Snow Day image

I played in the snow today!  But my kind of playing in the snow is probably a little different than you're thinking.  I didn't make snow angels.  Or go sledding.  Or build a snowman.  Or even have a snowball fight with the neighborhood kids.  {and I certainly didn't help shovel the driveway}.

Nope.

Fluffy, unpacked snow works best.  Just scoop the snow up with a big bowl.  Don't pack the snow into the bowl, as this will make your snow cream less creamy.

My kind of playing in the snow was ... to make snow cream!  You know, when you turn snow and a couple of other simple ingredients into a made-from-snow-ice-cream-treat?  And I played today by whipping up five different flavors of snow cream.  Oohhhhhhhh, they were all so good!

When I awoke to this winter wonderland in my backyard this morning ...

15 Favorite Photos from The Kitchen is My Playground

Happy 4th Birthday to The Kitchen is My Playground!

The Kitchen is My Playground turned four this month.  I can hardly believe it's been four years since The Kitchen is My Playground came to be ... all because I was stuck in my house for a week by a freakishly huge {for North Carolina} snow storm.  Yes, that's the story of how The Kitchen is My Playground came to be ... On a whim one night because I was bored, I poked around about this thing called 'blogging' ... and unwittingly launched an adventure I could never have anticipated.

And what an amazing adventure it has been! {and will continue to be, I'm sure.}

In celebration of The Kitchen is My Playground turning four, I thought it would be fun to take a look at some of my favorite photos on the blog.  So I went through my posts and pulled out 15 of my faves to share.  It was so fun to look back over the four years!

But before we take a look at the photos, I also have two fun blogging announcements to share ...

Creamy and Delicious Easy Chocolate Mousse Pie Image

To me, one of the world's most perfect flavor matches is chocolate and nuts.

Give me a few chocolate covered almonds, or chocolate covered pecans, or a handful of cashews and chocolate chips mixed together ... and I'm in heaven.  When I need a little pick-me-up or am craving a sweet bite, chocolate and nuts is quite often what I grab.

Irresistibly creamy and delicious easy chocolate mousse pie, topped with a sprinkling of mini chocolate chips and chopped nuts for the perfect touch of crunch.

I love that I get the sweetness of chocolate paired with the protein of nuts ... it fills me up while simultaneously satisfying my {ever-active} sweet tooth!

Well, want to know a great way to incorporate that perfect chocolate-and-nut flavor match into an easy dessert?

With this easy Chocolate Mousse Pie, of course! ... made with Silk Cashewmilk and topped with a delicious sprinkling of sliced almonds and chopped cashews.

No Bake Chocolate Mousse Pie Image

This pie creation was inspired by one of my favorite snacks ... cashews and chocolate chips.  It's creamy and delicious, with just the right touch of crunch from the sprinkling of nut and mini chocolate chip topping.

Speaking of creamy and delicious ... have you tried Silk Cashewmilk? Made with the special creaminess of cashews, new Silk Cashewmilk brings an irresistibly creamy hint-of-cashew-taste that is perfect over cereal, in recipes or straight from the carton.

Simply combine together some chocolate chips, milk, and sugar in a saucepan until melted and smooth.  Let the mixture cool briefly, and fold in non-dairy whipped topping.

It's a great dairy-free option that delivers up the perfect match between creamy, delicious taste and fewer calories.

And let me tell you, just like the irresistibly creamy texture of Silk Cashewmilk, the texture of this easy Chocolate Mousse Pie is indeed irresistibly creamy, too.

I mean, just look at the fluffiness of that chocolate filling.  Truly irresistible, don't you think?

About the only thing that can make this rich, fluffy, nutty-chocolate-y, irresistibly creamy Chocolate Mousse Pie better is ... to enjoy it alongside a big glass of creamy cashewmilk!

February 12, 2015
Enjoy all your favorite cheeseburger toppings ... on a pizza! ~ with this delicious Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza recipe.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza image

At night do you have these wonderful dreams of some kind of sensuous treat?  Not zucchini ... fettuccini ... or bulgur wheat ... but a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat?  Do you dream of a cheeseburger in paradise??

Well, how about we replace that big warm bun with a pizza crust?!  That would make this a Cheeseburger Pizza  in Paradise!  With bacon.

And I think Jimmy Buffett would approve, my friends.
